Jesse’s heart thumped against her chest and her long brunette swayed in the wind as she sprinted. A cold gust of wind picked up and Jesse grit her teeth, her feet pounding against the dense grass beneath her.
Jesse glanced up meeting the waxing crescent that was high in the sky. It shone brightly and the light from the moon reflected in Jesse’s twinkling eyes. Jesse’s umber eyes scanned everything, her surroundings only being tall dark oak trees and small glistening ponds.
“Where are you guys?” Jesse mumbled as rain began harshly drizzling from the sky. Jesse’s muddy boots sunk into the wet grass, her eyes beginning to lace with worry. Jesse’s breaths became heavier and she slipped on the grass for a few moments. Jesse stumbled, but quickly caught herself, her hand against a hollow tree stump.
Water dripped from Jesse’s long cinnamon colored hair and she panted, gasping for air. Jesse’s vision blurred, the surroundings turning to blob’s of colors for a few moments. Jesse’s hand moved to her bleeding adobeman and blood seeped into her soft hands. Blood oozed down the palms of her hands and she took a step forward, nearly losing her balance.
A almost silent groan escaped Jesse’s mouth and her head felt like it was about to explode. Jesse bit her gum, her dark hazel eyes, squinted. It was getting extremely hard to think straight and even with that the only thing she could manage to think about her friends. Since when were her friends, so elusive again?
Rain soaked Jesse’s blood-stained clothes, her breaths raspy and becoming more and more weak with each second. The deafening crack of thunder caught Jesse’s attention and her eyes hastily whipped around to the radiant blue light. Her heart pounded faster, her breathing becoming even more rapid.
Jesse tittered quietly and the amount of blood she lost was becoming more and more life threatening with each passing moment. The chemicals that she inhaled in the last few minutes was making her more silly and making it harder to breathe.
Jesse felt like her lungs were about to close and she took a few more steps forward, her hands sliding on the barks of the damp trees. The rustling of leaves and figs caught Jesse’s attention and her eyes cautiously moved towards the source as she sat down against the bark of the tree behind her.
“Jesse!?” A gruff voice exclaimed, stepping over the bushes and into the lush fields. Ivor gasped, rushing over to Jesse. Other footsteps followed and blood oozed down Jesse’s chin. Her eyes were filled with sorrow and Ivor gently took her hand, eyes filled with disbelief.
Olivia kneeled beside Ivor, sorrow gleaming in her raven colored eyes. Jesse gazed up at them with shiny eyes, “...Just...leave me here…,” Jesse said, her voice strained and raspy. “Jesse we...were not leaving.” Ivor stated, his tone raising. Tears formed in the corners of Jesse’s eyes, “Where...are the others?”
Ivor glanced at Olivia, “We...we don’t know Jesse,” Olivia said softly, pinching the bridge of her cold nose. Olivia sniffed and Jesse clutched her bleeding adobeman, her face scrunching up in pain. “...Leave...me here…,” Jesse drifted off, clenching her teeth as a sharp pain shot through her side like a bullet. Olivia placed her hands in front of her. “Were gonna stay here Jesse. By your side.”
Jesse gazed at Olivia with slightly inflamed eyes and Olivia gently took Jesse’s hand in hers. “Don’t you dare give up Jesse,” Ivor exclaimed, rapidly blinking back tears. Jesse glanced up at Ivor and gently squeezed his cold hand. “...Thank you…,” Jesse whispered, her voice quickly dying out. Her head fell back, her now lifeless brown eyes rolling to the back of her head and her loose grip and Oliva and Ivor’s hands loosened entirely.
