Brad couldn't stop hugging her, telling her how much he's loved and missed her. Justin and I were sitting on the bottom stair, Justin with his head in his hands and me staring blankly at the floor.

All this time, she's been my mom. I thought to myself. She tried to cover up the fact that she was by saying she was my mom's detective, but it was her all along.

"I've missed you too," she tried to get out of his grasp. "I um, I didn't know you were still in town."

"Of course I was! I leant Jess my car," he said.

I could feel Sharon's eyes burn into me, but I still remained staring at the floor. I refuse to call her my mom.

"I wish I didn't have to work in the morning, otherwise I could've stayed," Brad said.

"Yeah, um, here's my number. Call me when you get home."

"Wow, I'll do that. It's so nice to know you're still alive Jillian."

"I'm sure," she sighed. "Bye Brad."

He smiled and took his keys, walking out the door. No one moved, no one spoke.

She looked at Justin and me from across the room, Justin never once looking up.

"Can we-"

"Go." I finally looked up from the floor.

"What?"

"Leave." I stood up. "You've lied to me, you've screwed me over, and I don't care if you're my mom, I'm telling you to go. Now."

She looked hurt, but I could care less. "Jessica, I can tell you who to be afraid of and who not to be afraid of. I know everything."

My ears perked up. "How?"

"You have to hear me out first," she pleaded. "Both of you."

I looked at Justin who looked more tired than can be. All I wanted was to crawl back in bed with him, and I knew that's what he wanted too.

"I don't think we-"

"Jess, come on," Justin looked at me. "Let's just see what she has to say."

I was taken back completely. "Okay," I whispered. I sat down on the stairs next to him again, Justin pulling me into him from the side.

Sharon stood with her arms crossed, taking a deep breath. "I didn't run away. Okay, well, I did. But I was eighteen, I was legal to leave. I just didn't really let my family know where I was going."

I laid my head on Justin's chest, waiting for her to continue.

"My family was so controlling. I just wanted freedom, you know?"

I nodded, just wanting to sleep.

"I met your dad once I came here," she smiled slightly. "His name was Sam, and he was the sweetest person I will ever meet in my entire life."

My heart ached a little. I wish I could've met my dad.

"We got married, and I got pregnant with you not awhile after. When I had you, I promised myself I would never treat you the way my family did. I wanted to be your best friend Jess, not a mom that you despised."

She looked so worn out, so tired. I felt bad for her actually.

"Long story short, someone was threatening me, us. The only way they would leave us alone is if I left."

I was wide awake now. "Who was it?"

She looked so nervous, like she was going to be sick. "I- I can't say."
