Panem High- an Everlark Fanfic

Chapter ~14~

Katniss POV
A few days later Prim bursts into my bedroom after supper and excitedly says " I NEED YOUR PHONE KATNISS!" I look up from the book I was reading and say "What's going on little duck?" She is frantic as she says "I just really really need to see it please!" I warily hand it to her. She pushes a few buttons and exclaims "Yes! I figured it out! Katniss I know who it was! I have proof!" I say "Prim, please explain what's going on!" She hugs me and says "Kat! It was Peeta's mom! She was the one texting you, the one that made you break up with Peeta! She must have stole your phone once and she put on an app that was always recording every thing you did and said."

I can't hide my excitement as I shout "Really?!?" Prim nods excitedly and says "Come on!" I get in my car and speed to the police station. Once we get there I explain everything to a detective. He tells me that they are going to bring in Peeta's mom for questioning along with Peeta and his family. Once he leaves Prim and I are alone. I hug her and say "Thank you Primrose! Thank you sososo much!" In about an hour the detective comes back in. He says "We questioned Ursala, Peeta's mother. She admitted to harassing you. We explained the situation to Peeta and his family. They are out in the waiting room. I think Peeta went outside to get some air. He was very upset."

I jump up and sprint out of the room. I run down the hallway at full speed. I get to the waiting room and then do t hesitate before rushing outside. Even through the pouring rain I see Peeta standing there looking tortured, tears running down his face. I make eye contact with him and run to where he's standing. And then I'm in his arms. I wrap my arms around him and pull him to me as tightly as possible. He wraps his arms around me and I say "Peeta I am so so sorry!" Tears are streaming down my face. Peeta says "Don't apologize Katniss! Jesus I am so damn sorry! I was such a jerk. I cannot believe that my mother did this too you. I am so sorry that you had to go through this." I am sobbing as I lay my head on his chest and inhale his sweet, comforting scent. He rubs my back and we stand like that in the treacherous rain. I look up at his face and he looks down at my lips. Then we are kissing. Having his lips back on mine makes all the pain and hurt I've felt the past few months disappear. We break apart and I don't try to stop the huge smile my mouth curls into. Peeta grins back at me. He whispers in my ear "Do you want to go get something to eat so we can talk?" I nod and we walk back inside the Police Station.

Peeta's family comes over to me and Peeta. Nick smiles and says "You guys have truly been through like everything!" Toby hugs me and says "I am so, so sorry Katniss. We have missed you so much!" I smile and say "I've missed you guys too. So much." Chris puts his hand on my shoulder and says "I'm sure you and Peeta want some alone time. But you must come over for dinner sometime." I nod and Peeta says "We're going to go and talk. See you later." Before we get out the door Prim comes out and runs up and hugs Peeta. Peeta beams down at her and says "Thank you so much you little genius!" Prim giggles and then Peeta and I continue out. We go to a tiny coffee shop and sit down across from each other in a booth. We each order a hot chocolate. As I sip on my warm drink I can't help but look over at Peeta. He is smiling at me.

I set my mug down and say "So..." Peeta sighs and says "Kat, I know we can't just go back to how we were before." I look down at my fingers and reply "I love you Peeta." I look up and see his blinding smile. He whispers "I love you too Kat. Always." My mouth is instantly smiling and now the tears are running down my face out of pure joy and happiness. Peeta comes around to my side of the booth and sits next to me. I bury my face in the crook of his neck. A peace and clam comes over me. I know now that nothing will come between is again. I will not let it. I love this boy with all my heart, and I will never, ever, stop.

I know that this was really short, but more importantly, EVERLARK!!! So I think this is probably the end of this book. I don't know if I'm just going to do an epilogue or a sequel.
