Things had changed since that night.
The pair from Berk headed West away from their home, away from their families.

They rarely spoke of that night. For it was a night that was followed with many other painful nights.

They faced the Red Death, with only the help of their wits and the dragon whom they found companionship with. The heir was hurt and the friend stayed to care for him. They found sanctuary on and island far from the Dragon's nest, safe from the influence of Vikings.

Working together they began to build a new life, one were they felt safe and accepted without little complaint. Berk soon became almost like a dream they once had but knew never to talk of for only grief followed in those words.

The heir swore to protect all dragons from those who would threaten them. Along side him stood his closest companion, the girl who would follow him to the ends of the earth without a single doubt. They stayed together and they fought together. Protecting each other from no matter what, caring for one another no matter what.

The legend that surrounded them soon became whispers, whispers of a dragon master and his Lady danced among the wind. No one knew who they were and no one truly knew what they looked like only that where one was the other wasn't far behind.

Watching over their small paradise, the dragon master and his night fury relaxed from their perch on the cliff above the trees and beaches of their home.

Hiccup sighed, his eyes darting down over the shadows of the home in which he and Freya had built among the trees, there were dragons like terrible terrors and Nadder swooping about. The odd Monstrous Nightmare would fly by but apart from that nothing else seemed off by the young Vikings standards.
He could make out the chirps of the birds in amongst the sullen squarks of the dragons that resided in their little sanctuary. Not a thing out of place.

Or so he thought.

Toothless noticed movement not far to their right sensing it as his Changewing friend, he could make out the quiet airy giggles that slipped past it's riders lips as she hid under the dragon whilst it was camouflaged. Yet without warning the dragon appeared nudging his own companion off the side of the cliff before soaring down to catch him in his claws.

The dragon master was calm yet flustered by the turn of events, he tried to work out how he'd not been able to sense the in coming attack but stilled when the sounds of laughter reached his ears. "That's one point for me" the girl cheered and hollered gleefully, scratching her dragons scales in joy and praise as they returned back to the top of the cliff, "that sets the score at 12-11, m'lady" He coyly replied helping the young Viking off her dragon, "I'll beat you some day" Maeve answered back in a sarcastic manner before pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Well when that happens we'll have wings of our own.." he smiled watching as she moved round the dragons. "We're still going to the Northern Markets right... we're out of squids ink, thread, steel for the armoury and one of the terrors got into our rooms, they've singed the furs again" she sighed pulling a blackened blanket from her saddle bag, he cringed slightly before taking it from her, "we'll head out at first light, I need to talk with one of the traders anyway so it shouldn't be a problem" he stated closing up his now full saddle pack. Glancing over at her he noticed she was holding back something her features where pressed into a frown as her hands clenched and unclenched from being in fists, "have out with it then... it's not good to hold stuff in"he told her holding out his hand to grab her fists to stop her from hurting herself.

Looking up at she hesitates before slowly answering, "do you think the rumours are true... do you think that Berks really stopped killing dragons."

Silence followed afterwards as they waited for Hiccup to respond. "Who knows, I wouldn't get your hopes up Maeve.. you'll just hurt yourself is all" he warned her, she nodded watching the taller male let go of her hand before disappearing off down to the forges on Toothless's back, "what if he's wrong?" She mumbled softly as her changewing cooed rubbing his head gently on her, "what if things have changed?".
