Wounds and Scars

I threw my dagger at the target, my blood boiled with anger.

We'd nearly lost our lives to the stubbornness of both Hiccup and Dagur. If they'd gotten along more and actually tried to work with one another then maybe Vigo and Riker wouldn't have escaped with the one of the dragon eye lenses that we needed.

"Are they dead yet?" A voice called out as I froze, turning slightly to see Heather standing there watching me with her arms folded across her chest. "Nope still breathing.." I muttered going back to through my daggers at the target. "They are aren't they" she chuckled walking over to me as she stood behind me watching my movements, I blocked her out imagining the Vikings who had been annoying me earlier, "we went to Berk.." I heard her voice over the sound of my heart beating in my ears.

"What!" I gasped losing aim as one of my daggers missing and hit one of the walls. Looking at her I tried to take deep breaths to calm down, "you went where?" I asked in a slightly calmer tone. She smiled sadly at me reaching out to rest a hand on my shoulder, "we went to Berk, we went to apologise for everything that Dagur did to them.. we saw the Chief, we saw all your old friends and your sister" she told me slowly as I processed everything that had been said, "and?" I tried to urge her to say more. "They still hunt dragons... they were very surprised by the fact that Dagur had stopped killing dragons apparently last time he was there for diplomatic reasons he demanded to sign a treaty in dragons blood.." she chuckled lowly before looking me in the eye, "they still blame dragons for taking you and Hiccup.. your sister she seems reserved and cold about dragons it's like she's a different version of herself nothing like the way you described her to me.." Heather admitted as I thought over what she'd said about Astrid.

Had I really meant that much? Sure we were close as children but when I'd nearly gotten caught the first time by a dragon Astrid had taken it upon herself to basically be my protector. Sure if what Trader Johan had said was true it still doesn't explain why she'd give up our presents to one another from when we were younger.

Stepping away from Heather I went about retrieving my daggers, I glanced at the one that was lodged dead centre of the target. It was the dagger Astrid had given me that Hiccup had returned back to me a few months ago, heaving a heavy breath I pulled it from the target.

"Do you miss her?" Heather said aloud noticing my silence, nodding I replied "some times, she would love it out here...all these things that we find, all the people we've met... all the adventures.. Odin's beard if she'd seen half the stuff I've done she'd probably of had a heart attack" I laughed remembering how she'd push me out of the way of the dragons in the training arena when we were younger and lived on Berk. "She mentioned you once... I only spoke with her briefly and it was to say sorry about what happened to you, but she said that she wished she'd never had let you out of her sight, she wished she'd kept you from following round the Chiefs fish bone son then maybe she would still have you there to teach how to fight dragons or to go exploring Berk.." she paused as she saw how I'd turned in on myself.

"She never did like me being friends with Hiccup, always said I'd be in getting myself into trouble if I kept being his friend instead of training with the others" I sighed shrugging off the feeling as best as I can. "She's my twin, even if we look slightly different we're always gonna be siblings so you know beggars can't be choosers can they" I laughed trying to shake away the pain, Heather though could see right through me but respected that I wanted to stop talking about it. "Anyways want to come back up and check if the others are still alive" she grinned pointing behind, "I bet two days cleaning the stables that Hiccup and Toothless is flying Dagur over the sea ready to drop him" I laughed as she nodded, "your on!".
