Logan furiously walked out of the house and stalked toward the barn, his surprise trip for Anne was just ruined by the person he hated the most.
Seriously, he was trying to have a better understanding to their situation but if Hunter wouldn't stop bugging Anne Margarett he couldn't contain not to hate him.
His men exchanged a glance as soon as he entered and shrugged the moment they noticed his mood-- and that he doesn't wanted to talk.
He sat at the corner to where they stored the hays and tiredly laid his back and covered his eyes using his arm.
A minute after, Mason sat beside him and patted his shoulder, this man was one of those people who stayed beside him during that time he was not in a good shape.
"Want some beer?" Mason also laid beside him.
He slightly shook his head indicating that he was not opt for drinking. "Not rounding up today? I thought you and the men were going to the east part?"
Mason crossed his arms to his chest and took a side way glance at him.
"Yes, we're about to go, but first, I need to know if you're okay, seems suddenly you carried the whole world on your shoulder."
Logan timidly smiled. "Go, I'm okay. I just need a liitle time to breath."
"If you say so. But if you need anything just ring me, alright?" Mason dusted his jeans and hurriedly rose in his feet.
"Alright, I'll do that." he said and shooed Mason using his hand.
Mason shook his head and left without saying another words but he knew that his friend was worried. Maybe Mason would think that he might experience a despression again.
After his men left, Logan led Daredevil outside the barn. He made his way to the house and gathered the items he left on the kitchen table, noting that Anne was still in her room so he immediately went outside the house and headed to the awaiting horse.
ANNE STARED AFTER Logan retreating form for a long time, wishing he'd turn around and come back. He didn't. He kept going, disappearing from view.
In fantasies and old Westerns, cowboys rode off into the sunset with the damsel. He didn't leave her behind. But what else had she expected from him? She'd known he wouldn't take that she prioritize Hunter, rather than go with him to his surprise trip for her.
"Anne, lets go. We're in hurry. They're waiting for us." Hunter said, standing beside her at the foot of the porch.
Anne turned toward her friend and noted that Hunter came here to help--to get out of their problem. "We need to sort this problem the soonest because I don't want Logan to misunderstood me again.
She and Logan had had such a wonderful time together for these past few days; eating together, sleeping together, doing chores together. They acted like a normal husband and wife, and thats what she was looking forward for the future.
But, at this point of time they couldn't do it until she cleared the mess she was facing at this moment. Maybe, what they both needed was some breathing room, time to think and figure things out.
Tomorrow when he came back hoping she already fix everything and they would nothing to worry about.
"Oh, I knew this would happen. Logan would always see me as a threat." Hunter's words bothered her.
She suddenly got worried to what Logan might think about at this very moment.
"I can't stand seeing Logan like this, so we really need to fix this mess before its too late."
Hunter look at her. "Be the strong, wise woman I grow up with. Our parents are hardheaded persons, you know it. They wouldn't back down that easily."
The pain of the realization took the breath right out of her lungs. "I know..."
"Lets go, so we can think of another way if they wouldn't consider our plea." Hunter lead her to his awaiting car in front of the house.
AN HOUR LATER they entered at La Casa Tuscana, the one Italian restaurant in Montana, the locals said that they have a the best desserts here.
"We're just on time." Hunter whispered beside her.
Hunter was right when she noticed that their parents were just scrolling some sort of menu that this restaurant offered, it means that they were just arrived.
Walking side by side they approached their parents, she felt she was facing her judgement day.
"Hi Mom, Dad," she greeted her parents, then turned toward Hunter's parents. "Hi Tita Anna, tito Josh." she smiled at them.
Hunter also greeted their parents and assisted her to seat beside her mother and also sat beside her.
"Lets get you a food first." Dave, her father smiled at them.
She hurriedly shook her head and seriously stared to their parents. "No, Dad. Lets talk straight about this matter. I oppose on this fix marriage."
"Anne Margarett!" Amber, her mother stopped her.
She disappointedly stared at his mother, but she was serious to sort this mess, so she won't let her mom stopped from talking, then a tapped on her hand made her head turned to Hunter. Hunter signaled her to let him do the talk.
"Parents, please. Anne and I, don't want this arrange marriage. Please don't control our life." Hunter pleaded then faced his parents. "Mom, Dad, I don't want to enter in a loveless marriage."
Anna, Hunter's mother immediately protested. "But son, you love Anne, right?"
"Mom, that won't change the fact that we don't have a same feeling toward each other. Annie, loves Logan. And I'm not that greedy to snatch their happiness. Guys, leave Anne out of this." Hunter hold her hand to consoled her while staring at their parents.
Josh, looked at his son. "Hunt, we all know why we have to do this marriage. The Ford Industry is in a big trouble right now because of your Tito Dave health condition. In order to solve this problem we need you to take his place, some investors won't trust the stability of the company if they will put a unknown person. So, you two needs to cooperate. I hope you both understand why we need to do this. Son, your Tito Dave helps us a lot before, now this is our time to pay him back."
Anne and Hunter both stammerd to what they heard. They wanted to protest but there's no words that out in their mouth. They both understand the importance of this marriage to their parents.
"No, there's another way to solve this problem." she whispered. A tears that she was holding since this morning started flowed on her face.
Hunter smoothened her back. "Anne, please. Don't cry."
Anne just shook her head and hurriedly rose on her seat. She couldn't take the pressure anymore, she needs to breath, she needs Logan.
She immediately called the taxi nearby as soon as she was outside the restaueant and ordered the driver to bring her to Circle F. At this very moment she really wanted to see Logan, to makes her feel alright. Logan is what all she needs right now.
Frightened and worried Anne drove to the safest place she knew in this earth, and that is... in Logan's arms.
