Ashley’s POV

December 13, 2012

<day of parents funeral>

Black.

Black everywhere.

Everyone around me is covered in black from head to toe.

This feeling, is unbearable.

My parents are dead. And there is nothing I can do about it. They wont be able to see my wedding day, my dad wont be able to walk me down the aisle.

This is horrible.

I am dressed in my short, tight black dress with lace black long sleeves and my black wedges. I have Smokey eye makeup on and blood red lips and my hair is curled and pined back in the front.

“you look beautiful.” Jaime says and he hugs me from behind in our bedroom as I was looking in our full length mirror. He sets his chin on my shoulder and wraps his arms around my waist.

“I can’t do this, Jaime.” I say with my voice cracking.

“yes you can. You can do anything. I will be there to help you guys through it. So will Vic, Mike, Tony, Alex, Jack, Rian, Zack aaannndddd Cassadee!” he says trying to cheer me up.

“cass is going to be there?” I ask and sniffle.

“yeah, she’s on tour and she’s in California so I asked if she wanted to come and she said yes.” I smile a bit.

“there’s that beautiful smile. Keep that right there.” I smile more and I spin around wrap my arms around his neck and he smiles.

“I love you.” I say and kiss him good and hard.

“I love you more.” he says once we have pulled apart.

“not possible.” I laugh and he pulls me closer to him.

Knock! Knock!

“hey, you guys ready?” Brady says with tear stained cheeks. It sucks to see the two most important people in my life who are still so young this sad. I frown and look up to Jaime. He is looking down at me.

“yeah we will be there in a second.” he says. Brady nods and closes the door. Jaime looks down at me while I look down to the floor. He uses his index finger and lifts my chin to look at him.

“you will be fine. I will be right by your side the whole time.” he says and I nod and a single tear cascades down my cheek. He frowns and wipes it away. He kisses my forehead and I hug him really tight. I really need to cry, but I need to wait until after the memorial.

“thank you Jaime.” I say and pull back from the nice hug sniffling.

“your welcome, darling. Now let’s go.” I nod and he wraps his arm around my waist and we walk downstairs and out to the car where Isabella and Brady are waiting for us.

<skip to the memorial>

The whole car ride here was silent. Bella is a little too young to know what’s going on, but Brady is definatly taking it the hardest. We are all taking it hard, but my parents and him were really close. Closer than me and them. They went to his baseball and football practices, and every extra-curricular activity he was involved in. I mean, yeah we were all super close, but the only thing I was in that they wanted to come to was my dance performances because I was on my middle school and high school dance team, and soccer. And Bella is going to start Dance in a few years but I have already taught her some stuff, but they wont be able to come to those.

We are all currently listening to my Dad’s brother, my uncle Charlie talk about them.

“I’m really sad to see him go so early. I will really miss him. And Kathy. She was a great mother who raised 3 great children.” I smiled sadly and had a few tears come down.

“thank you for that Charlie.” the minister said when my uncle sat down.

“Ashley, Brady, Bella? Would you three like to say something about your parents?” I look over at Brady and he nods.

“yes please.” he says and the minister nods, so we stand up and I pick up Isabella and look back at everyone. They all give me reassuring nods and we walk up to the front of the church and Brady speaks first.

“hello, everybody. I’m Brady, Kathy and Jim’s son. Thank you all for coming here today.” he started. I could tell he was going to cry any minute.

“my mom and dad were two of the most important people in my life. They helped me through the hard times, they made me laugh when I was sad. I loved them so much. My dad coached me with my sports and school and my mom coached me through life.” I started crying and so did him and Bella. He looks over at me and I nod. He steps back from the mic and I take his spot with Bella in my arms.

“I’m Ashley, the oldest child and this is Bella, the youngest. I probably wont be able to talk a lot, I’m already crying so, I’m sorry in advance.” I take a deep breath and continue.

“my parents were there for me my whole life. When I needed something, they would drop whatever they were doing and help me. They cared so much for me. Unlike most parents, when they have another kid, they didn’t only pay attention to the baby, they made special times of the day or week just to be with me. And same with when Bella when she was born, but I was already out of the house at that time, and that also happened to be when I met my fiancé Jaime.” I smiled and sniffled a little.

“he has been helping us all through the heartbreak of our parents, and I’ve gotta say that would be hard. We could be a handful. Jaime, our parents absolutely adored you. We all said that you were the best thing to ever happen to me. You made me happy, and that made them happy. You were like a second son to them. So thank you for helping us all.” I wiped my eyes and start walking back to our seats but then Bella grabs the microphone.

“Bella come on.” I say and she shakes her head.

“I want my mommy and daddy back.” she says in her little girl voice that makes everyone cry harder. She is so small. She shouldn’t be living the death of her parents at the age of 4. I sit back down and cry into Jaime. Bella goes to Alex and cries to him.

This is one of the worst days ever.
