"The first test is simple, it's a test of trust." At once, a beep was heard and the students were all released from their shackles, left to roam free in their chambers. The moment her hands were free, Nikki jerked up and tore off the blindfolds, desperately looking around for someone she could lock eyes with. She only found her disheveled self staring back at her with wild and scared eyes.

"N-Nikki look at me! Look at me!" Adara shouted, fighting back the stutters in her voice due to the cold.

Nikki looked around frantically only to see the walls and ceiling were nothing but mirrors staring back at her.

"I-I can't..." she whispered, "It's one way glass, I can't see you."

Adara exhaled sharply and banged her fist on the glass in anger, before calming herself and looking around.

"Like I said, I wouldn't try anything, students. The glass is unbreakable. Now, you will all find that there will appear before you seven buttons. Each one says a name. Whichever student you press, weakening gas will enter their chamber. After this, you all shall be put in a simulated battlefield in which it becomes every man for themselves. Whoever is to faint or die first, shall be eliminated and the next test shall begin. Does everybody understand?"

"You can't do this!" Adara said boldly, "You'll be found out!"

"You're a monster!" Ayami spat.

"Sadistic freak!" Hiroki Jii managed, the gas beginning to wear off.

The shadowy figure sighed for a moment, then it's golden eyes narrowed and the button appeared. "Choose wisely. If you don't choose within 30 seconds, everyone gets it." It said, than vanished with an echoing laugh.

"O-okay, everyone listen up, please!" Nikki shouted from her chamber, a look of determination on her face though her eyes shone with fear and her voice shook. "If everybody chooses the person to the left of them, we will all get an even amount of gas and we should be ok. Did everyone hear that?"

Everyone nodded shakily, then buttons were pressed and a sharp hissing noise was made while a green gas filled their chambers. At once everyone felt light-headed and woozy.

"Fifteen seconds remain." The voice said.

"Wh..who hasn't clicked their button?!" Adara demanded.

"Haru and Akio." Hiroki grumbled.

Akio was curled up in a ball, shaking violently and trying not to cry. Haru was swaying back and forth, then as she reached for a button she seemed to become dazed and confused, then collapsed on the ground.

"Somebody comfort them! We all need to click the buttons!" Ayami shouted from her chamber.

"Hanako's unconscious. She's dehydrated you idiots." Hiroki said, swaying himself.

"Akio please!" Ayuki said, her grey eyes shining. "I know you're scared, we are too but you can do this....you have to." The girl slouched down and leaned against the glass, looking at him. He glanced up, his eyes bloodshot, then shakily stood up and reached for the button.

"Times up."

At once, gas flooded everyone's chambers.

"God damnit you idiot!!" Hiroki spat, leaning against the glass to keep from collapsing, his fists shaking with rage.

"It's ok! It's ok, Akio. We..we're fine." Ayuki said through a forced smile as the gas continued hissing into everyone's chambers. Akio attempted a shaky nod only to fall and sob.

Suddenly the chamber walls were lifted, and the gas stopped flowing, fading out into nothingness. The students desperately fled from the area the chambers had been in, most collapsing and coughing up the sickly gas in their lungs, coming out of poisonous green smoke.

The shadowy figure laughed as if it had just heard a knock knock joke, it's voice echoing from everywhere around them though it was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh don't worry I'm not that sadistic. That was just a little test to see if you could handle the stress of the situation...frankly I'm disappointed. Had I not given up on that test, you all probably would've died due to you all being weak. I'm not gonna make you fight until you're all at full strength and capable of using your quirks. I was just curious to see how you all would handle that."

Nikki coughed up the poison in her lungs and at once her eyes shot up and looked around for anyone. She let out a cry when something ice cold from behind, only to find herself in the shivering embrace of Adara.

"A-are you ok?" Adara trembled, grabbing Nikki as if she were a kid who had fallen off the swing-set, "I...swear to god I'm gonna kill this bastard."

She was shivering, her lips blue, her skin pale, and her eyes were dark and weary. Adara was swaying from the gas she had just been subjected to.

"Adara...I..I need to know something." Nikki said, that look of determination and fear written on her face, her eyes slanted as she struggled to stay conscious.

"Your quirk. Does your quirk actually need sunlight or is it based off of warmth?"

"I....don't know." Adara admitted, dumbfounded, "Why?"

"Listen, I can make this last for about ten minutes with the condition I'm in, it'll even last if I faint. I'm going to look into your eyes and make you feel warm...and powerful. Maybe you'll be able to fight that shadow thing"

Adara began shaking her head no repeatedly, "No..no- don't do that. Save your strength."

"Shut up, don't be dramatic, I'm not gonna die." Nikki said with a loopy smile, "You said you were only using one percent earlier today and that was enough to fry this person. I need one hundred." With that, the two sets of pink eyes locked and seemed to grow brighter.

Adara inhaled as if breathing for the first time, standing up taller and seeming to grow in size. Her chest felt hot with warmth and anger as she realized just how sadistic this person truly was and just how much they were going to pay for it as pink and red flames began to dance around her fingertips.
