Chapter One [Life as a Predator]

"This is your last chance, Lee Donghyuck! I'm tired of this. If you drop out of this school, I'm not going to provide for you anymore,"

And with that, Donghyuck was on a train to his new and final boarding school. Hia last three high schools had been in his area, but his parents had grown tired of him flunking out and decided that sending him to a boarding school in a big city would straighten his attitude out.

The train ride to the school lasted all of twelve hours. He slept most of the time and only woke up when a kind, young cat hybrid asked if he wanted to purchase any snacks. He sadly declined since his father sent him off without any pocket money.

He was told when he got to the school his school account would be filled weekly with money for him to buy food and other necessities. Donghyuck knew he'd be spending it on other things besides "necessities".

When the train was in the last hour of the journey he stared out the window and noticed how bright the city was. He started to think more about the school. He didn't even know the name of it. Im fact, he knew nothing about the school he was being forced to enroll in.

His nerves rose as the minutes passed by. He was coming closer and closer. He was told by his mother that his roommate would be there at the train stop to guide him back to the school.

Indeed he was, a Scottish Fold cat hybrid. He had striking blond hair and was surprisingly short. He looked in shock at the sight of Donghyuck coming towards him. Donghyuck looked side to side trying to gauge what caused his response.

"Are you going to Elite Prep Academy?" the cat hybrid asked, puzzled.

Donghyuck gave a hesitant nod and the cat responded with a laugh, "I think you got the wrong place," Donghyuck didn't see anyone else waiting for him, so he was sure that it was the only option.

Donghyuck stared confused at the cat. the blond's tail flicked as he rolled his eyes, "It's an all predatory school." the statement came out dry and aggressive as if it was common knowledge.

Donghyuck gave a small 'ha' and furrowed his brows, "No way,"

"Way," the cat responded.

"I cannot go back home, my parent's will beat my ass!"

"If you go to my school, you've got about the same fate there," the cat rashly replied. Donghyuck's floppy ears perked up at his response.

"Yeah, but at least my parents won't disown me!" the cat twitched his ears when donghyuck yelled at him. his tail began to swish back and forth slowly.

"Didn't know deers could yell," he almost hissed.

"Didn't know cats counted as predators," Donghyuck fired back. the cat's tail stopped and Donghyuck thought he was about to get swatted at. It wouldn't have been the first time.

Claws never came. Instead, the cat's ears perked up and he laughed, "I like you,"

"Huh?" donghyuck's ears fell into a comfortable position as he released his tension.

"I'll help you out, come on, uh-"

"Donghyuck, Lee Donghyuck,"

"Well, Lee Donghyuck, I'm Huang Renjun and I'll be your roommate," the cat gave a big smile and gestured for the deer to follow behind. Donghyuck pulled his hood over his ears and trotted after the cat dragging his bags behind.

Renjun opened the door to their room and Donghyuck let out a sigh of relief having made it to there in one piece. Renjun snickered beside him and helped pull his bags in.

The room has two bed opposite each other. there was a central blue color scheme throughout the room. There was a small kitchen area and a beige sofa with a small television mounted to the wall across from it. The bed that Donghyuck assumed was Renjun's was covered in plush dolls.

Donghyuck sat at the edge of the empty bed and sighed. He removed his hood and watched Renjun sit on the other bed opposite the room. The two shared a look of concern.

"Whatcha' going to do about the ears, doe?" Renjun asked as he crossed his legs on his bed. He began to rub against his own ears.

Donghyuck flattened his ears against the side of his face with his hands, "Maybe I'll fake an injury or something? Wear a bandage as if i just got surgery?"

Renjun's eyes dilated at the deer. He began to smile and nod rapidly in agreement, "You said you flunked outta school, but you seem like a genius to me,"

Donghyuck laughed and smiled, basking in the compliment. Renjun got up from the bed and walked over to the bathroom. There was a lot of shuffling before renjun emerged with a roll of gauze in his hand. Donghyuck grinned and reached out for the roll.

Renjun handed it to him and Donghyuck thanked him profusely. The deer studied the roll for a few moments but decided not to waste any of the material tonight and instead use it the next morning when he would need to use it.

"I'm gonna sleep now, I had a long day getting lectured about my new roommate," Renjun sassily announced. Donghyuck nodded in agreement and got up, walking over to his suitcase. He zipped it open and began to messily dig through the contents to find his pajama set. With a hum of satisfaction, he pulled out his soft yellow pajama set.

Renjun had taken the bathroom, so Donghyuck decided to change in the open. He pulled his shirt off and just as he did, Renjun walked out of the bathroom, already dressed. Renjun let out a loud gasp of surprise.

"Hwy! Don't look!" Donghhyuck shouted at the cat. Renjun ignored him and walked up to Donghyuck, running a hand down his back. There were white patches along his back. The cat stared captivated by the sight.

"What are these?" the cat asked curiously. donghyuck turned around the face renjun. his ears stood straight.

"You've never seen a deer with its spots?" donghyuck tilted his head in curiosity. The smaller cat shook his head. donghyuck gave a small laugh, "Young deer have spots on their back, Personally, I'm embarrassed by mine since you're really supposed to lose them when you're thirteen or fourteen,"

"Aren't you like eighteen now?" Renjun snickered. Donghyuck's cheeks began to redden.

"I'm only seventeen," he corrected.

"Late bloomer, eh?" the cat joked. Donghyuck sneered and gave the smaller a shove before turning around and continuing to change, "Hey, doe, are you gonna grow antlers? Those things look mad cool,"

Donghyuck hesitated. Antlers did have an aesthetic appeal, but his mother told him about how painful and hard to take care of they were. They were a rarity to grow through. he remembers when his dad was going through a shed and his antlers began to itch so bad that he started to bleed from scratching at them. His mother got so worked up and worried that they took a trip to the emergency room. His dad came home with his antlers removed. His dad looked pissed because antlers were somewhat like a wolves claws. His mother, on the other hand, was happy her husband wouldn't have to struggle with them anymore.

"I hope not. They are painful as all hell,"
