So many clouds were in the sky, barely a ray of sunshine coming through. As if the weather was following the events that are happening these last couple of days. I was slowly making my way towards Natalia's house. She called me earlier to tell me that we had no school today and to ask me if I wanted to come over. So here I am making my way towards Natalia's house.
Natalia and me kept in touch since Miranda passed away. They were both very close, if you didn't knew that they were best friends, you would've thought they were sisters. This is how close they both were, and now Miranda has passed away and Natalia is on her own in some type of way. I stood in front of Natalia's house and rang the doorbell. After a short while Natalia's mum opened the door. „Good morning, how can I help you?" She gave me a weak smile. This must been hard for Natalia's family too, since they always spend time with each other. Natalia's family was Miranda's family, and Miranda's family was Natalia's.
„Uhm, Natalia asked me to com-" Natalia interrupted me while standing beside her mum. „I asked her to come over. She's a friend from school." Her mum looked at me and nodded. „Then come in. So I guess you're the guest we're having over for breakfast?"
I got into the house and stood besides Natalia in the hallway, looked at her mum and nodded.
She gave me a light smile. „Okay. I'll give you both some time on your own, if you need me I'm in the living room!" Natalia's mum gave me another weak smile and left us alone.
Natalia and me went into their kitchen and sat down. I looked around the room and noticed a weird little frozen box. „Uh, Natalia, what's that weird box over there?" Natalia poured us some coffee in our cups. „Oh, that's the breakfast for the reptiles." She sat down on her chair and looked at me. „About what type of reptiles do we talk about?" I gave her a questioning look before taking a sip from my coffee. „Snakes. A lot of snakes. It's kinda my dad his hobby, taking care of them." She ate a little bit from her cereal. Could I imagine living with snakes in my house. Heck no.
„Are they for real in this house?" I also started eating from my cereal.
Natalia nodded. „Yeah, you saw the stairs in the hallway?" She gave me a questioning look.
I thought for a while, remembering the scary stairs that went down, before nodding. „You go down the stairs and then you're in our basement. Also known as the snake paradise."
I nodded. „Uhm, can we maybe go down there. I think it's really interesting." What the heck am I saying? I mean I really don't like these creatures, but something about snakes is interesting.
Natalia thought for a while. „Yeah, my dad is at the moment downstairs. So I think it's alright!"
We both got up from our chairs and made our way down to the basement. These stairs had something scary with them. We walked past by a window which was locked. Snake paradise here we come.
