"Aw what's wrong." Said The girl in the glasses, walking up to me.
I was silent.
I mean, I've just met these four random strangers and they're acting like I'm one of their friends. I heard a bitter laugh from the army jacket girl,
"Why don't you guys stop surrounding him? Looks like he's gonna piss himself."
"Rose!" They all hollered at her. The girl gave me a wink.
"Don't mind her." Waved off the butch girl, "Go on, you can tell us."
I don't know what it was. Maybe it was because I was broken down and at my weakest. Maybe it was because these people were being so incredibly friendly towards me. Maybe it's because I was just so confused about everything. Literally everything.
But I told them.
I told them all about who I was. The gender thing, the dancing, how my parents wouldn't even accept me, how I ran away. At the end of my story the boy looked at everyone and said,
"Well join the club."
"We're all like you. You know you're not alone." Said the girl with glasses gently.
"Perhaps we should introduce ourselves?" Mused the girl with the army jacket.
"My name is Bella." Said the butch girl.
"I'm Peter." Said the boy.
"I'm Lauren." Said the girl with the glasses and braids.
"I'm Rose." Said the girl with the headband and the army jacket
"Well it's nice to finally meet you Thomas. I'd like to welcome you to our little group here." Said Bella, shaking my hand proudly.
"L-little group?" I stammered, perplexed about this situation that I'm placed in.
"We're just like you Thomas. Cast out of society cus people just couldn't handle all of this." Said Peter, flicking his hair, "we're all part of the community."
"I'm a lesbian." Said Bella.
"I'm bisexual which means I like both boys and girls." Said Peter.
"I'm pansexual, that means I attacted to any gender." Said Lauren.
"I'm an asexual. Means I don't want to have sex or be in any kind of relationship." Said Rose.
"See we all knew who we were a long time ago. We got the signs." Smiled Lauren.
"Do you think it's time?" Said Rose, smiling micheveiously.
The gang all looked at each other and nodded their heads.
"I think he's one of us, don't you?" Said Bella, as she inspected me with a kind regard. The gang nodded again.
"Ooh we're going to show him!" Squealed Peter, bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet and softly clapping his hands.
I'm still pretty confused.
"Hang on, I'm not following. Show me what?" I frowned.
The all smiled knowingly at one another.
"Come with us." Lauren said quietly, taking my arm and walking along with the others, away from the park.
I asked myself why I didn't even fight back. Why I just let myself go with them. Why I just got this feeling that I felt this sort of...belonging with this group of random strangers that I had met on a park bench when I had been crying my eyes out. I have this feeling that things are starting to fall into place. But why? This was really not how I would've planned my night to end up as. These people were so different. I've never met anyone like them. It's been an half hour with them yet I feel like they've been my best friends for most of my life. I've never had friends like this before. Or anyone close to being my friend. This was so strange.
So new to me.
So different.
"Believe it or not we have a place for people like you. We're almost there, just around this block and at the street corner." Said Rose, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"There you go!" Beamed Bella, waving her hand at the place.
To be honest, this wasn't what I had expected. But then again my whole night hadn't been what I'd expected.
We stood outside of a gay bar.
'ALL FRIENDS HERE!' glowed in bold letters and raised high. Above the entrance was hung a pride flag that looked old and battered and like it had rested there for years but it's rainbow colours luminated proudly. Signs like DRINK and COCKTAILS emblazoned in hot pink and electric blue. It's flashing lights welcoming you inside...
