Work Text:
"You should just become a sugar baby."That's what Hoseok had said, earlier today.
Yoongi had been sulking, just a little, because he'd gone out with his friends for dinner only to find he didn't have enough money to cover the cost of his meal and his friends had paid for him instead.
Chasing his dream of becoming a producer meant living on a budget, his part-time job at the supermarket down the street paying barely enough for rent and bare necessities. It's a sacrifice he made knowingly, a calculated risk that he's happy he took, but mooching off his friends makes him uncomfortable - even when he knows they don't really mind.
It had been a joke of course, the sugar baby thing, just something to make Yoongi laugh and lighten up. Hoseok hadn't been serious, and they had all had a good chuckle over the thought of Yoongi becoming a baby for some old, rich daddy, and that should've been that. But as Yoongi slouches on his couch, staring at the pile of unpaid bills on his coffee table, he can't seem to stop thinking about it.
So he gets out his laptop and searches for "sugar baby."
Half an hour later, he's scrolling through ads of people with money looking for someone to spoil, and Yoongi's a little disappointed despite himself. Most of the men on the site are very obvious about requiring sex as part of the arrangement, or absolutely demanding to be called daddy, or just plain old, and none of those things are something Yoongi's interested in.
He's about to close the tab when one ad catches his eye: "Baby looking for Daddy to spoil." Yoongi has to read the title twice before he's sure he hasn't just read it wrong.
He clicks on the link and reads through the ad quickly. It's very detailed and thorough, listing the things that would be expected - none of them involving anything sexual - and even how much the weekly allowance would be; a frankly ridiculous amount that has Yoongi's eyes blowing wide. And, curiously, the man behind the ad is indeed referring to himself as a rich baby who wants a nice daddy to spoil.
To be honest, it seems a little too good to be true.
Yoongi takes a break to head into his kitchen for a midnight snack and when he comes back with hands as empty as his fridge, he's made his decision. He writes a quick email before all but slamming the lid of his laptop shut and going to bed.
He almost forgets about the whole thing. Manages to go through the next morning without thinking about it, immersed in the melody that came to him in the middle of the night. It's only when he goes to text Jungkook that he sees the notification for a new email. Yoongi takes a moment to breathe deeply, a little nervous for some reason, before opening it.
The email is long , really long, full of exclamation marks and emojis and excitement, and it's a little off-putting at first, but the man - Jimin, apparently - seems really happy to have gotten a reply. The man goes on to explain that he's been looking for someone for a long time but no one has shown interest in his ads before, and Yoongi's heart melts a little. The guy seems sweet, really.
