"Where... am I?" Storm asked as he opened his crystal blue eyes and blinked rapidly as his eyes adjusted to a bright light. His mind felt dizzy and he could swear there was some sort of ringing in his ears. Slowly, he ignored all of this and waited for his sight to return.
Once his eyes adjusted to the light, all he could see was a plain gray room illuminated by a single light hanging by a wire from the ceiling. Within it was a metal table bolted to the ground and two metal chairs, one of which Storm woke up sitting on. Taking a moment to realize where he was, he tried to move, only to learn that his body was numbed to the point that he couldn't move his limbs at all.
Then, part of the wall came forward and slid to the side to show a woman in a two-piece suit within a dark room. "You, Storm Lockehart, are in one of the government's interrogation rooms." The woman answered Storm's question as she stepped into the room and the part of the wall slid back into place, leaving no trace that there was a way that it could open up.
Sitting down across the table from Storm, the woman clasped her hands together and stared at Storm directly into the eyes. "What do you want from me?" Storm asked, breaking some of the silence between them.
"Simple. We need to do some research on you." She said, not breaking eye contact except for the occasional blink.
"Research? Why?" Storm questioned, barely able to express the confusion on his face.
"Just try to remember what happened yesterday. It was your high school graduation." She hinted, her face clear of any emotion.
Thinking back, Storm closed his eyes to concentrate on the hazy memory. But all that he could remember was receiving his diploma before rolling for his job. After that, he couldn't remember anything thing except for the word, 'Evolver'.
Relaying that information to the brunette across the table, Storm grew more curious about what the word 'Evolver' meant to him. "The job you rolled was Evolver," the woman clarified as Storm tried to imagine what his job would lead him to. "It is a job unique to you and that is why you have been brought here." She explained. "You are what the Nexus refers to as an Outlier, a glitch in the system if you will."
Letting Storm take a moment to think about it, the woman stood up and stepped back before leaning against the wall. "So you want to study my job?" Storm asked, still slightly confused as he lifted his head.
"In simple terms, yes. But if your job takes a turn for the worst," She paused and gave a light shrug, "we'll kill you."
"Wait, What?" Dumbfounded. That was the only word that could describe Storm's face right now. And yet, the woman seemed to be enjoying his shock. "Y-You're going to kill me?" He quired once more, a bit more distressed than before.
Storm suddenly found the woman behind his chair before she leaned over next to his face, a whisp of her hair flying past the edge of his vision. "If you comply with our orders, then you'll live. Can you do that?" She whispered into his ear. A soft yet deadly tone. Storm very hesitantly nodded in response, not even turning to look at the woman as he swallowed. "Then from now on, you will take orders from the government and by extension, me." The woman informed. "But if you're worried about your normal life, it will still exist, though it will be a little different."
Remaining silent, Storm just stared off into space as the woman just went back to her chair, watching his every little move like a hawk. After a few minutes in the silence, a jolt flashed through Storm's jerking his head back before a single message box appeared in front of him in bright blue letters.
"Storm Lockehart, your first quest is to accept your first five evolution points. These points allow you to 'evolve' certain traits of yourself and can be gained by doing more quests. Do you accept?"
