Storm was stuck with his younger twin sisters upstairs watching them play as they laughed and messed around with his hair and showed him things they had done in school while he was away. It wasn't annoying to him but he was soon tired out while playing tag with them, especially when he tripped and crashed on the floor.
"Storm! Are you okay?" Faith asked as she rushed over. "I'm fine," replied Storm with a warm smile. He stood up and rubbed his legs. "Just tripped, that's all." Faith and Grace watched as he recovered. "Maybe we could tone it down?" Grace suggested.
As Storm opened his mouth to reply, a sudden ringtone could be heard catching the twins' full attention as a screen popped up in front of them.
"That's Holly!" They both shouted in sync with excitement. "Who?" Storm asked but his sisters had already run off to answer the call. Storm slowly followed them in to see the twins kneeling on a chair in front of a screen on a video call with their friend. Storm watched from behind them as they happily chatted with their friend while occasionally fighting over for the seat.
"You're going as well, right?" Faith asked energetically with her face close to the screen. "Yep!" Holly smiled. "My whole family will be going!" They all exchanged energetic looks as they jumped up and down in their seats.
"Holly, don't do that, it's dangerous." A masculine voice informed from the screen, not in the camera. A guy with the same brown hair as Holly entered into view and placed his hands on Holly's shoulder to stop her from bouncing.
"Hello, Frederick!" The twins said. Frederick turned and waved at them. "Hi Faith, Grace. How are you two?" He smiled. Storm peered over from the twins' shoulders to stare at the screen. Information about the two popped up displaying small captions.
"Holly Karell. The youngest sibling of the Karell residence."
"Frederick Karell. Oldest sibling of the Karell residence. Has been hired by Apex Studios as a photographer. Will be a full-time assistant there in three months."
"Ah, is this your older brother?" Asked Frederick as he noticed Storm from behind. The twins nodded and leaned aside for the camera to get a better view on Storm who hesitantly gave a light wave.
"It's nice to meet you," Frederick said taking full attention on them. Holly pouted and poked her older brother a few times trying to him to scoot over. In response, Frederick just stayed like a rock, immovable. Grace and Faith giggled watching Holly trying to shove him off the chair.
"Fred, Mom says we're going now!" A girl's voice called from outside the room. "Got it! Thanks, sis" He replied back as Holly plopped onto his lap. Turn back to the screen, Frederick let out a deep breath while placing a hand on Holly's head.
"Unfortunately, we have to go. We still have much to do before tomorrow." He whined. "Yellowstone!" Chimed Holly as she grabbed her brother's arms and tugged on them with enthusiasm. "Right, right." Frederick chuckled. "Anyways, we'll talk next time." Holly waved at the screen as the twins waved back. "Bye!"
And with that, the screen closed leaving just the empty white table in front of them.
Immediately, Grace and Faith jumped up from the chair and started to run around in a circle singing, "Yellowstone" as they twirled around. Storm watched his younger twin sisters with a grin on his face.
When Storm had finally heard his name being called by Penny for them to leave, he was quite amazed to see how she and his parents had a casual conversation. As Penny waited by the door while Storm placed on his shoes, the twins gave him Storm one last tight hug for the day.
"I'll see you two first thing tomorrow morning." Storm promised as he and Penny stepped outside. Penny stared at him with bored eyes and looked away when Storm's parents chatted with him for a few seconds. With one last wave, Penny and Storm drove away back home.
"Hurry up and make dinner. I'm hungry" Penny ordered as she threw off her shoes and headed straight for the couch when they arrived home. Storm sighed as he closed the front door while staring at Penny.
'She just keeps commanding,' Storm thought but entered the kitchen, pulling open the fridge door. 'Well, she did try to make breakfast this morning,' He suddenly chuckled and shook his head. What a disaster that had turned out to be.
"Are you just going to stand there and wait for dinner to create itself?" Penny questioned snapping Storm out from his small thought. Storm ignored her comment and started to pull out some ingredients.
After some frying and chopping, Storm had finished some small dishes and set them on the table. Glancing up, he saw that Penny was laying down on the couch watching some shows on the huge flat-screen TV.
"Dinner's ready." Storm called out catching Penny's attention. She turned off the screen and made her way over to the table and sat down. The two of them started digging in.
"The one thing that seems like you can never mess up at is cooking," Penny said throughout the meal as she filled her plate with more food. "If you had phrased that a bit more different, that would have been a very nice compliment." Storm replied with a sigh while continuing to eat more himself.
"That was a nice compliment," groaned Penny. "It's quite an achievement for you to get me to say something like that. Be grateful." She glared at Storm making him flinch slightly.
After they had finished dinner, Penny had gone ahead to take a shower and prepare for the night while Storm was stuck doing dishes. Fortunately, Penny had gone ahead and packed the items they needed for the trip tomorrow. She had even gone so far and had things out and ready for them to just grab-and-go first thing in the morning. "You're welcome." Penny had said out of the silence almost forcefully.
When Storm had finished cleaning the dishes and the table, he allowed himself to relax on the couch before Penny called his name informing that the bathroom was now available for him. She quickly entered and shut the door to the bedroom before Storm had even stood up.
Storm took a short shower and got dressed in his night outfit in the bathroom. He placed on the wristband his twin sisters had made for them. Even if they weren't around, it was nice to wear something that had made for him.
Storm then left the bathroom and stood in front of the bedroom door. This time, Storm made sure to knock instead of just intruding right in like the first time. He didn't want any surprises that could be foreign to his eyes or just not pleasant.
"You can come in." Penny calmly said from inside. Storm opened the door and entered. Penny was already laying down in bed faced away with the sheets up to her shoulders. Storm made his way to his side of the bed and carefully lifted the sheets to slide in. Once he got in a comfy position, he turned off the lights.
'Nexus, set an alarm for 5:30 for the morning.' Storm thought.
"Alarm set." The system noted. "Have a good night, Mr. Lockehart." Its emotionless voice said.
Storm rolled his eyes hearing the sound in his head before leaning in the pillow ready to sleep facing away from Penny.
"I hope you won't show any abnormal behavior tomorrow," Penny said while still laying down. Storm tilted his head slightly to glance at her. "I won't use my 'Evolver' skills if that's what you mean." He replied but didn't get a response back from Penny. Taking one last glance at her, Storm shook his head and allowed himself to get some sleep.
