Long Ride

Early the next morning, the digital sound of his alarm woke Storm up. Since it was earlier than his usual wake up time, Storm stayed in bed for a few minutes even after he had turned off the Nexus's alarm.

Sitting up and dangling his legs off the side, Storm glanced over to see that Penny was still asleep next to him faced away. Placing a hand on his dizzy head, Storm wobbled to the bathroom and decided to take a long shower to clear his mind. He let the steam warm his body as thoughts began to run through his mind.

He soon finished his steamy shower and dried himself. Storm quickly combed his hair and got dressed before leaving the bathroom.

The smell of food caught Storm's attention as he entered the living room. Penny was sitting at the table wearing her similar style while eating an egg sandwich. Her hair tied back with an elastic. Some drinks and other foods laid on the table. Storm walked over and took a seat as he gazed at Penny.

"Did you prepare all of this?" Storm asked. "I went out to buy breakfast while you were in the shower." Explained Penny. "I couldn't wait for you." Storm rolled his eyes and grabbed a sandwich from in front of him.

The two of them ate lunch in silence. Penny finished before Storm and excused herself while heading to the bedroom. Storm quickly finished up eating and cleaned off the table just as Penny dragged two luggage out and stood at the front door.

"Let's go." She ordered tapping her foot impatiently. Storm wiped his hands and followed Penny out into the car. The ride over was long and quiet just like last time. Storm occasionally stole glances at Penny who kept her eyes straight ahead, not paying any attention to Storm.

They soon arrived at the Lockeharts' house. Everyone was already outside with their car ready to go. Storm's father was standing by the trunk loading the last of the bags while the twins ran around playing with each other.

Penny parked the car on the side of the street and turned to look at Storm. "Just go tell them we're here and ready to go." She said plainly. "I'm telling them?" Questioned Storm looking back. "I have... 'things' to attend to." Penny replied. "Just go greet them and get back here." Storm decided that these 'things' Penny had to do probably involved the government so he decided not to question her anymore. He gave her a quick nod and got out of the car.

The twins immediately noticed Storm and ran over to greet him. "Good morning!" Grace said with a grin on her face. "Yes, good morning." Replied Storm. Faith grabbed his wrist happily. "You're still wearing them!" Her eyes sparkled. Storm let out a light chuckle. "Yes," he replied. "Of course I would keep something my sweet sisters made." The twins beamed as Storm patted them. A sudden notification screen popped up in front of Storm's face.

"Congratulation, Mr. Lockehart," The Nexus said, "You have gained two evolution points and achieved the title, 'Sincere Brother'. Would you like to apply the title or use your points?"

Storm stared at the screen that displayed what he had gained with a confused look.

'Nexus, just how do I get these evolution points?' He thought as the display showed a long list and began to automatically scroll.

"These are the visible quests you can currently take at your level," the emotionless voice answered. "Each has their own assigned amounts and can change over time based on the choices you make every second."

'You said visible,' replied Storm, 'so there are quests I can achieve by accident?' He continued to read the list as hundreds of tasks flew by.

"Yes, quests that are not visible are usually not possible or are listed as bonuses."
