"Sorry," Storm stammered, looking at the two twin sisters with a guilty expression cast on his face. "I don't think I have the time." He lied as the two girls pouted at him, making it really hard to say no to them.
Across the table from Storm, both Christopher and Maxwell were disappointed by his choice as well. Well, their only chance at spending time with a girl that is not related to them was just thrown at the window.
Sighing, the sister to the right patted her sister's back to comfort her as she faked crying, trying to guilt Storm into accepting their offer. After a few seconds of the fake crying, it seemed the 'crying' sister was stopping her attempt at guilt-tripping. "Okay, have a nice summer," the two girls said a bit saddened as they walked away.
"You too, have a nice summer," Storm said, his voice trailing off towards the end. Turning back to his friends, Storm could see the chubby Max and skinny Chris trying to guilt-trip him into going to the beach with them after denying them the chance to flirt with two girls. As if it wasn't hard enough for them to talk to a girl already.
In the meantime, Penny walked up to the table they were sitting at, completely oblivious to the little moment that happened while she was gone. To be fair, she was recording some information about Storm, but the file that she was looking at was only visible by Storm and not the other guys due to a difference in the network they were connected to.
"Storm, time to go. We'll have lunch at home instead." Ordered Penny, not even looking at the two strangers at the table as she read over another file. Looking up, she had two files open up in front of her, one for each of the new strangers, yet again invisible to Max and Chris but visible by Storm. "These are your friends from high school, right?"
"Yeah," Storm said as he grabbed the six bags filled to the brim with clothes that Penny had bought for him earlier that day.
"How about you spend a little time with them, I just remembered that I had to go pick something up." She said before leaving the three guys in the food court, heading to some store in the mall.
Setting down the bags, Storm sat up in his chair and looked at his two friends, both of them looked shocked for some reason or another. "Are you guys okay?" Storm asked, genuinely concerned for them.
No answer. Both of them were too shocked to answer. Trying to get them out of their stupor, Storm snapped his fingers right in front of their faces a few times, snapping them back into reality. "What's her name?" Both of them asked immediately and in near-perfect unison, startling Storm slightly.
'They have a crush on Penny already.' Thought Storm as he got up and left for a moment as Max and Chris turned to look at each other.
"I'll bet $100 that I can get her number before you." Claimed Chris as he immediately brought up a Nexus screen with the title, Bet, at the very top of it. Near the bottom was an accept and decline button while the center held the value or items that were being bet for.
Pressing the accept button, Max slammed his other hand on the table for dramatic effect.
"You're on!" He shouted as Storm came back with a soda bottle he got from a vending machine.
Sitting back down, Storm only saw a glimpse of the betting screen before both of his friends went back to face him, trying to act normal. But as any character from a show has known, trying to act normal makes them look more suspicious than ever. "Okay, who's the doomed girl this time?" Storm asked, having gone through this multiple times throughout high school.
"What? What makes you think that?" Max asked, his voice higher pitched than usual, blowing his cover immediately.
Trying to save their cover, Chris tried to subtly flex his arms for any passing women. "We were just talking about what we were gonna do at the beach. Nothing wrong with that, right?"
