Chase's P. O. V

I had been taken down to the station where I would be booked probably within the next few days before being sent out to the pound or being put down.

"Alright Chase, we're here," Officer Buggs said. He opened the door for my and I jumped out, I didn't need to be in handcuffs, I was just on a leash as he pulled me into the police station. I didn't know what was going to happen from this point, I was just a confused pup again.

"What's going to happen now?" I ask. I wasn't expecting an answer, but I got one.

"You'll be put in a crate, before being booked in, then you'll be sent off to the pound," Officer Buggs said, I whimpered sadly. We walked into the station, the person behind the desk was Officer Ryder, from what I could read from his name tag, it looked like there was someone else in there, a small boy.

"Alright Chase, do you know what you are being booked for," Officer Ryder said, I only shook my head.

"Yes sir, I do," I told him.

"Alright Officer Buggs, can you take him over the crate, and give him food and water," Officer Ryder said.

"Yes sir," he said he put me in my cage. He gave me a bowl of food and water, but I wanted to say something to him.

"Officer Buggs?" I ask.

"Yes Chase," he replied.

"You guys, if I were to ever get out of jail, have made me want to become a police officer someday," I told him.

He patted me on the head, "I know you do Chase, I know you do," he told me as he walked away towards the front of the station. That little kid that I had seen at the front was coming towards me.

"Daddy, can we have this one," he said. I saw Officer Ryder spit out his coffee, I could only laugh a little.

"Zach honey he's a criminal," Officer Ryder said.

"But you say everyone deserves a second chance," the young boy said.

"Sweetie, he's killed other dogs, do you think he deserves a second chance," the officer continued.

The young boy shook his head, "Yes dad,  I do," Zach said, I didn't know his last name.

"Okay, now that means were going to have to take care of him and give him the help he needs to be a good pup so he doesn't do anything wrong," Officer Ryder said finally giving up to his sons request. I had just been given a second oppurtuinity in life, I ran towards Ryder and jumped on him, licking him. Ryder couldn't help but laugh, at heart Officer Ryder knew that Chase would be a good pup and always was. We walked out to the car as his shift was over with and we drove home. Ryder's Dad looked in the mirror making sure I didn't do anything to Ryder. I layed my head on top of Ryder's lap, he began to slow down a little bit thinking I would do something terrible but Ryder just put his arm around me as he fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning on a bed, Ryder's bed to be a matter of fact. Ryder wasn't up yet so I decided to go exploring, it was a huge house Ryder's parents must be very rich. I had walked up to the railing of the loft it was huge. I walked down the stairs and somehow found the kitchen in the maze of the house.

"Morning Chase," Ryder's dad said. I gave a big yawn while replying to his answer.

"Good morning Officer Ryder sir," I said. He just chuckled, overnight he began to trust me and I began to trust him, we were coming closer and closer together. Soon afterwards me and him went to a K9 training academy, in which I got top numbers in my class, I was so proud, Ryder's dad was proud, Ryder was proud, he mom was proud. One evening we had gotten home after a call. It was the four of us and it had been a few weeks since I graduated. I smelled something.

"BOMB," I yelled as Ryder's parents, Ryder, and myself scattered. It wasn't long before the car exploded into flames. Luckily we were home and the Ryder's had lots of cars.

"Chase thank you  for saving our lives," Ryder's dad said he had the wind knocked out of him.

"Anything for you guys," I said nuzzling them as we walked inside the house. The police department arrived at our house and began asking us questions. Then my Ryder told the Sargant there about his heroic duties and the fact he was a trained K9 Officer. That's how I got my first job, working at the police department, my first day I was on Traffic Duty, I had made several pull overs, and ticketed the people for the laws they broke. I soon began rising up the ranks of officers. I soon became a Sheriff, then a Lieutenant, and then I got myself into SWAT. It was interesting to say the least.

As a SWAT officer you didn't called that much but when you did it was normally a terrorist attack or a drug dealer or something along those lines. I had been in drug dealers homes before, I can still feel the smell of it to this day and how badly it reeked. I had been in a pursuit where they were activily shooting at officers, they ended up killing two of them. None of which I knew as they were from a different jurisdiction but I felt bad for them. I had been in Afghanistan where I helped kill Osama Bin Laden, and help towards the demise of ISIS. It had been so long that I had been away from my family. I didn't see them at all for a few years. Until I was told to go home because I had been working to hard, for a while, I wasn't fired I was just forced onto vacation. So I came home, I saw that Ryder was around but not his parents. He was happy to see me and gave me a big hug, I could tell for the young boy he was he had gone through a lot. I had decided at that moment that I would stay by Ryder's side and never leave him again.
