"KATHLEEN!! That's MY girl!!"
Rounds of applause filled the room as I just finished my valedictorian speech.
"Congratulations class of 2019!" I flung my cap off of my head, and my class followed.
Purple caps covered most of my view, but I could faintly see Bunny's face grinning at me in the middle of the third row.
The ceremonial song began, signaling row from row to get up and make their way into the back room.
Hugs and congratulations were given all around me as I search for my friends.
"Kathleen!" Malia tackles me from behind. "How does it feel to be a college graduate?!"
Her smile and energy was contagious as I wrapped her into a hug. "It feels amazing! Where is everyone?"
"You mean where's Bunny?"she teases.
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help my cheeks from reddening.
My parents walked up — Brent following close behind— and hugged me.
"Congratulations sweetie," mother smiles. "How about we go out for a celebratory dinner?"
"I know this place not far from here,"says Malia, a wink aimed my way.
We pulled into the parking lot of a nice Italian restaurant that appears to be semi-full.
I caught sight of my group by a window all donned in the same purple graduation gown. My eyes fell onto where Bunny sat with her mother and sister.
Bunny's unfastened gown reveals her elegant black dress. Her silvery curls bounces around her shoulder, a big smile on her face.
Our eyes met and held, a look of content passing through them. I was so focused I didn't notice my family had gone to join them, until Brent tapped me on the shoulder.
"You coming?"
With a nod I followed him over to their table. I was seated right across from Bunny.
"Congratulations Kathleen," Althea says with a genuine smile. I see where Bunny gets her good looks from.
"Thank you," I smile.
"You look beautiful tonight," Bunny compliments me.
I look down, forgetting that I was wearing an ivory, off the shoulder mini dress with buttons down the front. I kept my makeup natural and straighten my long, brown hair for the ceremony. I did, however, replaced my heels for my slides.
"Thanks love," I reply in return of her compliment.
After the server came with our food, my father spoke up. "So what do you kids have planned for tonight?"
"Gabby's hosting some party at our place,"says Bunny.
Party? After pondering over our decisions from the last week, it was confirmed that I had never discussed with anyone about throwing a party.
