"i really need to talk to ciarán." salem thought out loud while she brushed through her hair.

"i can arrange that." kevin assured.

she sighed, "how? he's been avoiding me for the past week."

"i have my ways, just wait and see."

☻☻☻

kevin had told salem "wait and see" three days ago, and nothing had happened since. she constantly told herself life would go back to normal, which was the way it was before she met ciarán.

but that wasn't the case.

ciarán was constantly on her mind, ever since she met him. whenever she was around him, he seemed to make her heart start beating rapidly out of pure bliss. just seeing him in general reminded her that he was her golden hour.

so, she couldn't ignore him, and neither could he ignore her.

kevin bugged ciarán about salem regularly, and even when his best friend wasn't bugging him, he was thinking about her too.

"if you want her so bad, why won't you talk to her?" kevin asked, painting his nails on his bed while ciarán sat on the floor.

ciarán thought about it for a while, trying to come up with a plausible answer. he didn't exactly know why he still wasn't talking to her. he kept making up excuses, though he wasn't even mad at her anymore. she had told him she wanted him, so why was he avoiding her when he felt the same way?

the problem with ryan had been resolved, so what was he waiting for?

"you think she's mad at me?" he asked in a small voice.

kevin laughed, "far from it."

ciarán suddenly straightened up. turning around to look at kevin, he asked: "she's not?"

he shook his head, "she felt embarrassed about kissing you, but she says she didn't regret it."

"you've been talking to her?!"

kevin nodded, "but you haven't. i know there's another reason why you've been avoiding her."

ciarán sighed, "whenever we talk, she wants to talk about ryan—"

kevin interrupted him, "because he's the reason why you two met, and he's also the reason why you guys got mad at each other. she's trying to fix the issue, instead of avoiding it." kevin said sassily, calling ciarán out.

"it's not my fault i don't like her ex!" he exclaimed.

"she doesn't like him either, and you know that."

ciarán opened his mouth to speak, but he was at a loss for words. kevin was right; he had no reason to try to avoid her anymore. "well, i didn't know that before." he mumbled.

"you know what, cici? we're going to see her at work on friday." kevin promised. he told salem he was going to get him to talk to her, and he was keeping his word.

his eyes widened, "we're what?"

"you heard me."

"but i'm not ready! i don't know what i'm gonna say, what she's gonna say—" he was rambling, and it seemed like he wasn't going to stop.

"ciarán, it's tuesday. you have plenty of time to think about what you want to say to her."

he sighed, "you're coming with me, right?"

"if i don't, you won't do it."

"hey! that's not true!" he huffed, folding his arms across his chest.

"so i guess i won't go." kevin shrugged.

"wait, no! fuck, please just come. i can't do this all alone." he pleaded.

"i was planning on going anyway." he chuckled. "i have to get russell and ashlan gifts for their birthdays."

"their birthdays aren't until next month." ciarán said, stating the obvious.

"says the person who didn't get dom, ian, or jon a birthday gift until the week of." kevin seemed to be coming for ciarán's throat today, and it didn't seem like he was stopping; unless he got what he wanted.

"i was caught up thinking about other things!" he tried defending himself, causing kevin to shake his head at him.

"like what?" when ciarán avoided his gaze and didn't respond, he continued sternly."you better get something for russell and ashlan, and talk to salem."

ciarán sighed, "fine, but are you gonna be with me when i talk to her?"

kevin shrugged in response, "we'll see."
