Okay, now I really felt betrayed. I mean, who doesn't have Netflix these days? Netflix is awesome! Their movies and series are awesome! But, apparently these back-woods people just haven't gotten with the times.
Oh, and while I wanted to get it, I didn't have any way to pay for it. But, that was all moot since I didn't even have WIFI! What the hell, man! You give me what is supposed to be the holy grail of boredom relief, and I can hardly do shit with it!
"Hey, you over there," I jutted my chin out in annoyance at the teen's oblivious attitude as she ignored me, staring and tapping away at her phone. "Timmy's stuck in a well!"
She didn't so much as flinch when I yelled that only a few feet from her, so I decided to close the distance to see what the hell has her so preoccupied. Looking over her shoulder, I found she was texting someone and the sound of music was lightly spilling from the earbuds snuggly placed there.
Well, that just won't do, and I'm pissed that they hadn't thought that the teens would do something so... Teenager-y. Leaning down, I looked at her face between the hair hanging down, the phone wholly reflected in her eyes.
Well, they were until her face was twisted into a growl as she glared at me. I have her pho-one! Nah nah nah! Shit. She looks really angry and aggressive. If it had been the me of before, I would have handled her no problem, but my self-confidence has taken so many hits lately that it looks like it went through a war zone. Of emotions, that is.
Well, couldn't let her, or anyone else, for that matter, take what power I had left from me. Instead, I stared her down, releasing my own growl, if somewhat squeaky. I try to ignore that point, though.
She rolled her eyes, obviously thinking I was just another little childish shit that she can dominate into submission just because she was older and bigger. Well, on second thought, nope. No way is that going to work on me.
I smirk at her, looking her in the eyes as I grip the cell phone tighter. Her eyes widen as she looks between it and me. I had considered just sitting on it, but I figured it wouldn't give as much of a scare factor as I had wanted. Instead, color me surprised that my strength made it possible for me to squeeze it to its electronic death if I wanted.
"You wouldn't," She finally spoke, jaw clenched and nails carving into the already-scratched up porch.
"Try me."
She glared, muscles bunching as she considered her options. I picked up the ear buds still playing music, holding the end pieces in my hand. Looking her in the eyes, I bit off one of the ear buds, spitting it at her.
"You!-"
"Tut-tut," Using the thumb of the hand holding her phone, I broke off part of the cell phone case when she rose up. "Wanna rethink that action?"
She growled, which turned into a scream as a full on temper tantrum seemed to start. I watched, bored as she, a high school teen, kicked her legs and slammed her fists on the ground. Finally, minutes later, she seemed to run out of steam, "Done now? Good."
Her stare was full of angst and hatred, "So, apparently you did something stupid that required you to have this punishment. Seeing as your cell is getting in the way, I'll hold onto it for now."
"As if I'll listen to you, midget freak," She hissed at me.
I had been keeping an eye on the kits, and noticed that a few of them were getting too far away, "Shut your face, childish brat. This is how it's going to go. You do your job and what I say and I won't break your phone. You ignore me or give me undue attitude and not do what you're supposed to, and I'll start breaking off pieces. Got it?"
I smiled at her dead look, "Good. We're on the same page. Now, go herd those wandering lambs back from the peripheries."
I looked at her and she at me before I jutted my chin again towards the kits, narrowing my eyes, "Now."
Flipping her hair, she stomped over to the little kids, making shooing motions for them to go back. One of the kits reached for her hand, paws on her jean-clad leg, but she quickly moved it out of reach, instead knocking the kid in the head with her open hand. A large startled whine escaped the little one's mouth as he scurried away from her. The other children gave her a wide berth as well, bunching together into groups for comfort.
The girl stomped back angrily, patting at the place the kit had put his paws on, muttering words that were most definitely not flattering in general. If this was how most of the teens were around the kits, I was worried for the future health of this generation. Treatment like this could vastly affect the growth of children, especially if done often.
This wasn't going to work. I had to tell Alpha Darien that it was too dangerous to trust irresponsible brats with the young lives of children. What if something had actually happened while she was on her phone? Would she have just knocked the kids away that were trying to get her attention because of it?... On that note... Did the children already know how she was? They didn't come near the porch to play, unlike when the adults were around and I was shifted myself.
I took out the kiddie phone given to me by the Alpha to call him if anything happened, Drey? Are you okay?
The sound of Alpha Darien startled me into fumbling the phone, the girl's thankfully snuggly hidden under my butt, I'm coming over. All I'm getting from you is a mash of emotions-
I jumped again when the phone started ringing. The one under my butt, not the one in my hand. The one in my hand wasn't connecting, which probably meant that he left his phone behind. I rolled my eyes at the irony of it.
A hand on my neck threw me forward off my wheelchair, the impact with the porch a painful experience. But, it was the foot on my back that just enhanced the hug with the floor that much more, the air driven right out of me.
Foot still on my small back, the crazy bi-brat crouched down, "Mine! bet you regret taking my phone now."
Standing up, she started grinding her foot into my back, "Yeah, sorry about that... No! Of course not! The experimental freak had my phone."
The hell? She stomped on my back, the pain causing dots to appear in my vision as air refused to enter, "Just luck."
My eyes couldn't focus any more with the tears in them, "Yeah, I can do that."
Drey?! I'm almost there! I've got someone else headed there!
A hand grabbed my hair, forcing my head back before driving it forward into the porch.
