"Hey, how are you doing?" Greg leaned against my locker.
"I'm fine. " I stuffed my music book into my backpack.
Annie had taken Kevin to the airport yesterday. I feel terrible. I mean he's my best friend, he's in love with me, and I rejected him.
"Jay, you're a terrible liar." He looked at me concerned.
"No I'm not." I glanced up at him. "How do you even know?" I teased.
"Every liar has a tell, and yours is your lips."
"Psh, right. My lips," I said oblivious to his sudden closeness.
"When you lie, the corner of your lip twitches. Some won't even notice it, but..." He touches my lips. "I do."
"Um, I twitch?"
His lips pulled into a smile. "Yes, it does." He softly caressed my cheek.
I heard someone clearing their throat behind me. "Love birds, do you mind getting a room?"
I stepped away from Greg instantly. "What are you talking about, Annie?"
"Yeah, you know what I'm talking about."Greg envelopes her in a hug. " Ew gross!"
He laughs. " You used to love my hugs."
"That was before you got Jay cooties all over you." She stuck out her tongue at him.
"Hello! I'm standing right here!"
"I'm kidding. I love you!"
"Right," I said sarcastically.
"Okay, I'll let you ladies talk about whatever you girls talk about."
"Good. I was just going to ask Jay which size of tampon does she prefer, regular or super plus?"
"Now, I'm grossed out,"Greg laughed while walking away. "See you later Jay."
"What about me, you loser," Annie yelled.
"Later, Queen of the Dead."
"Queen of the Dead?! Wait until -."
"Annie, he didn't hear you."
"Just wait until I see him at lunch. So Jay, how are you doing with this whole Kevin deal?"
We walked to our last classes of the day. "I'm so confused. I do have feelings for him, but I can't distinguish if it's true love or friendly love."
"Well, if you think about him all the time, you want to be with him no matter what may happen, you can spend hours talking to him and never get tired, when given an option you only want him. Then that's true love." We stopped in front of my classroom door. "Think about it Jay. It's so easy to fall in 'love' with someone you've known your whole life. But it won't always be true love."
I had a lot of thinking to do, and things to sort out. "Thanks Annie." I gave her a quick hug.
"No prob. I have 2 minutes to make it to class now. I gotta run. See you after school?"
"Yeah, you better hurry. See you later." She turned. "Annie!"
She stopped in the middle of the hallway. "Yeah?"
"Thank you for taking Kevin." I smiled.
"Hey, that's what friends are for. They save your butt!" She smiled and sprinted to her class. I laughed. I was so blessed to have amazing friends.
I settled into my desk. Music was my favorite class, so it was almost natural for me to arrive early. Just me and an empty classroom. The cool air blowing from the air vent. The smell of lemon scented guitar cleaner. Being surrounded by various types of instruments. My fingers itched to play the baby grand piano in the front of the room. This was my favorite room in the entire school.
I checked the clock. I had 10 minutes til class started. I walked toward the front and sat on the piano bench. I lightly grazed the keys. The cool ivory colored keys felt pleasing against my fingers. I adjusted my hand formation, and I began to play.
Whenever I play, I get so lost in it. It almost seems like for those few minutes while I begin to play, all time stops. It's just me and the music I'm creating. I'm entering my own world where music flows from my fingertips. Music that held so much passion, it cannot be restrained. I was enveloped with it.
My fingers seemed to have united with the piano, as they danced over the keys.
I ended my piece.
Clap, clap, clap
My eyes darted upward. It was Brian. "Very good."
I tried to discern if he was being genuine or sarcastic. He smiled gently. "Um, thanks."
"You have talent." He sat next to me on the bench.
"Thank you. You know class hasn't started yet?"
"Yeah, I know. I like coming to class early sometimes."
"Really? You sure you're not stalking me?"
"You want me to stalk you? Because that can be arranged." He lifted one of his eyebrows causing me to blush slightly.
"Brian and Jasmine, you're early." The professor walked in.
I gathered my things quickly and sat in my seat. Seconds later, students filed into the classroom.
I glanced over to Brian, and he was leaning back in his seat chewing on the eraser of a pencil. He caught me and winked. I quickly turned around.
Okay, I really need to focus.

Brian's POV
She blushed. I laughed inwardly.
I know I'm good looking. I've had plenty of girlfriends to prove it.
But, there's something different about her. I don't know what it is, but I will find out.
