“Jasmine, Jasmine…” I heard a voice far off in the distance.

“Jasmine, Jasmine…” It was coming closer. I looked around searching for the voice. But I was in the middle of a meadow, and I didn’t see anyone.

“Jasmine...” The voice, it was male. “Jasmine.” He called into my ear, I turned around abruptly. It was Greg. He gave me a smirk. I felt my insides melt.

He grabbed my hand and walked me to a brook.

The water was so clear that I was able to see the round pebbles that lined the bottom. I reached down and felt the water flow between my fingers. It was a perfect temperature.

“Jasmine.” I spun around. Greg let go of my hand and gestured I follow him.

We walked a little ways down the brook; we stopped near the edge of a wooded area. I looked around and saw a blanket spread over the lush green grass. Greg walked up to the blanket and lay down on his back. He patted on the spot next to him.

I bent down on the blanket and lay on my back as well. I looked at him, and he gave me another smile.

I felt so happy. I looked up at the sky.

Night came quickly, and the stars began to glow brightly. They seemed so near, like I could almost touch them.

It was beautiful.

I turned to look at Greg again, but he was gone.

I sat up quickly. I looked around, he was no where.

I heard a great rumble. I looked toward the sky. Thick, dark clouds began to roll in my direction. They were coming fast. I stood up and ran into the woods, trying to find shelter. The thunder was so great, the earth trembled. Rain began to fall, within minutes I was soaked.

My heart was beating against my ribcage violently; I thought it was going to bust.

I ran as fast as I could. I could barely see. I felt tree branches slap my face as I looked for refuge.

“Jasmine!” I stopped. The rain stung as I spun around looking for who called my name.

“Jasmine” I turned to my right and I saw Kevin. He looked scared; he waved his hand wanting me to follow him. I ran up to him. Holding my hand, Kevin led me through the trees.

All of a sudden, the trees dissipated.

Kevin kept running. I let go of his hand and stopped. I was so tired. I couldn’t breath. I leaned forward, trying to catch my breath.

“Jasmine!” I snapped up, looking around for Kevin. He was nowhere to be seen.

“Jasmine!” I ran up to what looked the ledge of a cliff.

“Oh my God!” I thought.

Kevin was holding onto a tree branch, he was going to fall.

I reached towards him, and he grabbed my hand.

I looked into his eyes. They were filled with fear, love, and hope.

He smiled at me, I returned one.

His smile evaporated, and was replaced with fear.

I looked down.

His hand was slipping.

I tried to pull him up; I used all of my will and strength to get my best friend off the ledge.

A tear fell down my cheek.

“Don’t let go!” I screamed.

He gave me a weak smile.
