My heart stopped. My body shuddered. My world collapsed. I fell. My stomach heaved. My thoughts were mauled.

My reactions kicked in.

I ran up, faintly grabbing Christina's arm, running blindly. If he wanted to shoot me, he would've, wouldn't he? I didn't know. All I knew was how to run. I heard footsteps behind me, not sure if they were Christina's or the shooter's. I did not know anything. I blindly fumbled into a closet. Some people joined me. They must've been in the hallway and heard the gunshot and ran too. That's when the reality hit me. Chris, my brother, was dead, or far worse. I shuddered, my breath shallow. I know we weren't the best bro/sis relationship but I still loved him. He was the only key to my past, my only loophole. And he was gone.

"Hey. Are you ok?" asked a girl I didn't recognize. She was short. Shorter than me. She had brown hair that was to her shoulders and a purple dress on.

It was all I could do to nod my head feebly.

I looked around the small closet, taking in the people. Christina, of course, was next to me, the girl was across from me and Fabu was sitting by the girl on a bucket. So that was why Ian couldn't come. He had an actual date. Of course he would rather go with a girl as a date than as a friend. I would too. Except with boys or whatever. My brain was to jumbled to be thinking of vocabulary.

"Sorry I was so discrete in the texts." He says, though I don't really listen because I'm gonna faint if I'm not concentrating on staying awake. "My mom grounded me so I had to use the computer. My mom checks the messages so..yeah."

All I did was nod again. I slipped to the floor, drowning in unconsciousness.

"Hey! don't you dare go to sleep on me." Christina was shaking my shoulders and she gave me a hand getting up.

"Thanks." I mumbled.

"Ok guys here is the plan-" Ian started.

"You always seem to take charge." Christina joked. "That's cool."

"Uh yeah. So the plan is to call 911. Then we get the hell out of this closet, warn the others, and escape, without that dude finding us or we are dead. You hear me ? All our lives are on the line." He continued.

"Cool. Good plan." I said, regaining energy. I was in a life threading situation and you could bet I was gonna live it out as if it were my last day on Earth. I needed to go out saving lives

I whipped out my cell phone, my heart pounding.

911 what is your emergency?

Please I can't die

What?

There's a school shooting in Wickliffe. Save us.

Forces are being deployed.

I cried out, my heart shuddering. We needed a plan. A real plan.

"Ok guys. I hate to say it, but we have to split up. Christina and I and Ian and you." I nodded to the girl.

"Where will we go?" the girl asked.

"Ok uh Ian and you go to the gym and warn everyone. Christina and I will go through the hallways and bathrooms and classrooms looking for stragglers. Anyone could get shot. We could all die. Just know we can do this. Ok?"

The girl out her hand in the middle. I followed suit. So did Christina and then finally Ian.

"On 3. 1.....2...." The girl shout whispered

"The fighting four!" the girl exclaimed as we silently raised our hands and rushed quickly out of the closet.
