Author's note: I’m back! it took a while but there was enough interest for me to post the second part  and I finally found the time to post it.:-) I don't own N.C.I.S. L.A. Hope you enjoy

Previously in Danger Zone

 

Suddenly Eric's voice comes through over our earpieces.

“Guys.”  He says, “Don’t respond or react to this, but Heidi says to bring him in through the lake entrance. I believe that she wants Sam and Callen to question the Target first. Kenzi and Deaks are observing and the rest of you in her office. She has something she wants to tell you.”

 

PART TWO

Out of the corner of my eye I see Kenzie and Deaks exchange a look. But they don’t say anything. I know what that’s about, this morning they were late to briefing. They said they had to tell Heidi something, obviously it affected the whole team. I wonder what they told Heidi. 

We ride the rest of the way in silence. When we get there My partner and I went straight to Heidi’s desk, Kenzie and Deaks went to the boatshed to watch the interrogation and Callen and Sam dive off heading to the boatshed entrance through the water.

I bet you are wondering why we are being so secretive, I will tell you. The Target is one of our biggest enemies. He has sold tons of weapons to the Russians. He has even sold false armor to the United States. What we want him in for is a major bombing that took place in Pakistan and the Target is a suspect.

By now me and my partner had reached Heidi’s office.....Well I wouldn’t say office, I would call it a area of observation. She can see everything, and the only thing that separates us is a step leading to her desk.

HEIDI: " Welcome to the two of you." She says to my partner and I. "I am going to assume that you are both curious to as why I asked you to come here instead of the Boatshed to watch the interrogation of our Target."

MY PARTNER AND I:" Yes Ma’am."

HEIDI: I’ll get there in a second, but first I must ask a question. Don’t answer it right away. and don’t worry about what may happen. I will deal with it. Just answer truthfully. 

The small woman looked up at us. She had the ghost of a smile on her face.

HEIDI: Have you noticed anything different in Ms. Byle’s and Mr. Deeks partnership?

My partner and I exchanged a glance, we really haven’t been on the field a lot with Kensi and Deeks, in the bullpen it was always Deeks and Kensi’ usually teasing banter. They have always been really close. I know that Deeks is the first person Kensi has trusted for a long time. Ever since Her ex-fiance, Kensi has had abandonment Issues. Every important male in her ln her life has ended up leaving, usally permentally. 

Deaks however, comes from a rough childhood. His father abused him and he never talks about his mother whom i’ve never met . He had a hard time fitting in when he first came here, but now Deaks is one of the team here, anf the older brother I’ve never had. 

But even still Kensi and Deeks have been really close lately. So I decided to tell that to Heidi

ME: "Um, well I know that they are close friends. And that they were really affected by Kensi’ reassignment to Afghanistan. But other than that I don’t think anything is off."

MY PARTNER: Yeah Kensi and Deeks are really good friends, They trust each other.

HEIDI: "Well then, I think that Mr. Deeks and Ms. Blye have done a real good job hiding their feelings and keeping their relationship hidden from the rest of us. As of five months ago, Kensi and Deeks have been dating." 

Me and my partner looked at each other in shock. Kensi and Deeks? WOW!! They kept that hidden really well. From everybody, even Callen had no idea that they were dating. And he knew how to read people very well.

ME: "Did you know that they were dating Hedi?"

HEIDI: "No, I did not. I suspected it, but I had  no way to be certain. I believe this experience will be good for the both of them. Kensi should be able to trust a man in her life. Deeks should know what it feels like to be loved and to love that person back."

Me and my partner nodded. 

HEIDI: "Now I ask you to watch over them this week make sure that they are all set to work together. Please return to the boatshed where I believe they are continuing the interrogation. When Agent Callen is done please send him up here. I need to tell him what I told you."

Me and my partner nodded again.

HEIDI: "One last thing, please do not speak of this here. I must make my decision and I can’t make it if Direction Granger is telling me to separate them."

Me and my partner nodded and left Heidi’ office. My partner spoke as soon as we were out of earshot. 

MY PARTNER: (Low whistle) "Um. you and I both know how this is going to go over with Sam and Callen. I mean, come on Their Kenis’ “older brothers”."

ME: "I know what you mean......"

MY PARTNER: "What’s up you okay. "

ME: "Yeah, I am fine just thinking."

My partner didn’t answer. Which left us in a stone cold silence,. I was really trying not to burst with excitement. I am so happy for Kensi and Deaks. I can’t believe it took them this long....wait did he just ask how I am? That’s a first, like Kenzi and Deaks My partner and I are very close. Things have been getting awkward between us lately. I’ve been meaning to have a talk with him, But with the thng with the target, and all the traning we do. I haven’t had the time.  Maybe when this is all over.

That’s it!! i realize it was a short chapter, but I had to make a cut somewhere.(originally wrote this on Google Drive) So it made sense to do it here. I again have no idea when the next part will come out, It all depends on Interest.  Keep commenting  and it will be up. I promise.
