I heard the machine whirl on and I laid calmly. It was only 10 minutes but it felt like hours. The nurse came into the room and smiled. "We will get back to you about the X-rays soon." I smiled and the other doctor came into the room. He helped the nurse get me onto the bed and then she wheeled me out. I heard the wheels squeak as we turned around the corner. We got back to my room and they helped me onto the bed then left the room. My dad was asleep in the chair with my brother on his lap. I took out my phone and called Jack debating of I should tell him about the crash.
"Hey Jack!"
"Hey Aly! I was wondering if you were going to call anytime soon."
"Yeah. Well," I decided to just tell him," I got in a car accident.. Before you say anything! I'm ok. I just wanted to know if you could come to the hospital tomorrow or the day after?"
"Yeah! Sure. Are you sure you're ok?"
"I'm ok."
"Alright, I'll call you back when I can."
"Ok. Bye."
He hung up and I grabbed the bag by my bedside. I was still starving. I ate my food and drank my Starbucks. I coughed and it literally felt like someone ran my chest over with a truck. Wheezing, my dad ran over to me and asked me what was wrong. "I'm fine! I'm fine!" I managed to muster out, tears welling in my eyes. "Really, I'm ok." I said calmer this time. He backed away and sat down in the chair. My brother asks to go to the play room and my dad nods. He runs out the door and I smile. A couple minutes later, there was a knock on the door and my doctor came in. "So you have two rib fractures... we're going to prescribe you codeine. They're painkillers and should help with the pain a lot. You're going to be extremely tired for the first dose. So you can take the first one." he hands my a pill and I pop it back and take a sip of my Starbucks. He talks to me about side effects and how often to take them. He talks to my dad for a couple minutes and then leaves the room. I think ten minutes has passed and I can feel my self getting sleepier. I closed my eyes and fell into a heavy sleep.
