( chapter seven )

MADELEINE HURRIED HER way towards the library, she had received a text from reece about him leaving if she didn't come before three seventeen pm. she didn't realize how strict he was going to be, but realized it was probably to dramatize her evening a bit more. she carried her gym bag, strapped onto her shoulder, it almost being a cause of her tripping. finally she arrived, seeing the boy sitting at an empty table with his things set out. she huffed as she sat beside him, throwing her things on the side of her chair and finally wiping the sweat that dropped from her forehead. their campus was quite a big one, instated with multiple building and the library being the farthest away from the exit of the school. the boy didn't bother asking, as he continued to write down whatever it was, completely ignoring the girl. as she finally settled in, she began to wait for the boy to ask her to begin on something.

this went on for about fifteen minutes, the pair sitting in complete silence. madeleine broke the tension by standing up, "if i came here just to watch you write down whatever it is you're writing then i might as well leave." madeleine ranted as she began to pick up her things. the boys eyebrows furrowed from being interrupted, him finally looking up at her and gesturing her to stop. "i was writing down some basic questions for you to answer, like a placement test to see where you're at. not everything has to be so dramatic, blossom." reece grumbled, causing the girl to sit down in defeat.

she once again brought out her pencils and pulled her hair behind her ear. "i don't know, it would be like you to make me sit here and look dumb, just to be spiteful." she retorted, causing the other blonde to look up, with a shocked face. "look dumb? and i'm not spiteful." he responded causing the girl to stop in her tracks. "not spiteful? you literally hate me for no reason." the girl responded, grabbing the sheet of paper from the boy and beginning to fill in the most she could. the boy didn't respond, he didn't have anything to say. quite clearly he had never truly spoken to the girl, not in years.

he tried his best to ignore the stupid statement, trying only to think about the inheritance he would be gaining from tutoring the girl. the boy himself starting calculating what he would be the depositing the money on. he'd be charging the finnemore's forty dollars per hour, him usually tutoring madeleine for four hours for five days a week. that's eight hundred dollars added to his usual income of 200 a week from working at the old bowling alley. a thousand dollars per week, it was causing the blonde's lips to curve into a smile, he's never had this kind of money before. the boy would at most make a thousand dollars a month and now he was making that per week? it was quite clearly all work it. after all the expenses were calculated the boy still had more than two thousand dollars extra month, setting most of it aside for emergencies and the rest, spending money.

reece has never had spending money before, he's never bought himself anything to be honest. maybe he could save up the money he had to send his little sister to college. he's been collecting the money check by check, but never realistically thought it'd be enough. the blonde girl was finally done, she spent a few minutes in silence look at the boy smile at whatever he was writing. "reece bibby smiles? what a shocker." the girl mumbled, she herself smiling at her joke she made. "oh hush it," the boy responded, grabbing the paper and looking over the question.
