( chapter nine )THEY SAT IN THE SAME round table, madeleine writing equation after equation while reece stared in the other direction. he hadn't looked her in the eye, the entire session. afraid he might go off any second. his subconscious would immediately go back to the conversation he overheard george and the girl having, the second he hadn't focused on something. once again she felt the tension but enveloped her emotions under the red hoodie she wore. reece couldn't help, but be angry at the girl, annoyed of how much of a secret it was to be friends with george, that he had to go to his restroom to talk to her. madeleine noticed his tensed face, and being the person she was she couldn't help but ask what was wrong with him.
"something bothering you, reece?" she asked the blonde beside her. this caught him off guard and he proceeded to scoff in response, "what's it to you blossom?" he questioned the girl. "you're obviously displeased and i wanted to be your outlet," the girl replied unaware that his displeasure was in fact her. "don't act like you're my friend. even if i was, you wouldn't want anyone else knowing huh?" he retorted causing the girl to meet eyes with the beyond annoyed boy. "excuse me? what's this about reece? i'm honestly confused," she asked her questions one after another and it caused the boy to furrow his eyebrows at her once again.
"george, we're talking about george," he blankly stated his stern smirk returned. "you've got it all wrong bibby," the girl responded causing the boy to roll his eyes. "oh cmon, tell me. why don't you talk to george at school, or even acknowledge his presence," he asked. " it's not my place to say, if george wants to tell you he will." she replied closing her books, accepting that she wouldn't want to finish anything they started from the moment he accused her. "pathetic, you and your group of friends are pathetic." he snarled grabbing his bag from the floor and pushing everything inside of it immediately.
"you know nothing. nothing about my friends, about me or about george so instead of assuming or eavesdropping, mind your business." madeleine recited angrily, finally walking away from the boy and out of the library. reece stood in shock not expecting the girl to respond in such a way, especially because her demeanor showed her as someone who isn't straightforward or confrontational. reece walked out a couple minutes after, heading straight for his car.
after a couple of minutes he made his way into his own house. the boys made plans to meet after his tutoring session since they babysat his little sister, so everything was planned except for reece's outbreak. once reece walked in the boys were completely confused with the boy's arrival. "what?" reece mumbled as he made his way towards the kitchen, the boys sitting on his living room couch across the way. "why are you here mate? i thought your tutoring led until five?" blake asked placing his cup of orange juice on the counter. "she had to leave early, thats it." reece made an excuse, looking over at george who stared at his phone intently. reece rolled his eyes at the boy contemplating asking him to explain the entire situation. "what? the blonde got to your head mate?" blake asked once again, the smirk on his face grew. "fuck off blake, go mess about with delilah" reece retorted causing the brunette to grow silent. "shes not my type, it's obvious ain't it?" blake asked as they all sat down on the couch once again. "blake admit it, you're not her type and thats why she's supposedly not yours" george mocked the boy, reece laughing along. "admit it richardson" george told the boy once again.
"if i have to admit that delilah is my type, then reece has to admit that madeleine is actually like-able" blake responded causing reece to roll his eyes at him. "i don't know how people can like her, she's obnoxious." reece blankly stated as he stared at george's diverted eyes. he looked like he was holding his tongue and wanted to say something, but stayed silent for the remainder of time.
