Chapter 8

1 month later

"HER VITALS ARE DROPPING." Caitlin shouted over the comms. "I CANT DO ANYTHING HE'S HOLDING ME DOWN. NORA!" "Dad! I love you. I love you too mom." "Nora no. Don't talk like this." Within seconds Savitar stabbed Nora and cicada let go of Barry "NO!" I screamed. Louder than I ever had. My baby was gone. Barry sped back and hugged me. I was crying, balling my eyes out. "Iris, Baby it's okay." "How is this okay? She's gone."

Our friends behind us were in tears and in shock. Joe had no idea how to act while Caitlin and Cisco were crying. Joe came up to us and hugged me. "Baby. I'm sorry." I hugged joe and we went home. We all went to Barry and i's house.

I walked into Nora's room and more tears formed in my eyes. I picked up her blanket and favorite stuffed animal then put them on my bed.

Today's my 3 months. I can't tell them. Today's not the right day. But I have to tell them son before it shows.

Barry sped away then sped each of us to star labs one-by-one. We were all in the med bay standing above Nora's body. Barry kept trying to restart her heart but nothing was working. "Baby stop." Barry started crying. Then sped away again.

30 minutes later

I got a text from felicity. Nora's babysitter, she is now working for the green arrow in star city.

Felicity: iris! I heard about nora.
Me:how?
Felicity:Barry's here with Oliver
Me:could you tell him to come home? I need him right now

Felicity:he's gonna stay here for a while
Me:why?
Felicity:idk. He just said he needed a break.

Me:how long is he gonna be there for?
Felicity:2 weeks
Me:no
Me:I have to talk to him
Felicity:then come here
Me:I don't have super speed. I can't run over here. The train will take like 7 hours.
Me:and I can't leave my friends
Felicity:sorry:/

I texted Barry

Me:Barry. Come home
Barry:I can't. Not when Nora's gone
Me:what about our baby that's in the way
Barry:I won't be gone for that long Iris
Me:Barry you can't just leave me.
Barry:iris I can. There is too much going on. I can't be there with it all and you trying to get all over me. I can't have that all at once.
Me:what
Barry:I can't have you dating me at the same time there are TWO bad people trying to hurt this world. I can't.
Me:if that's what you want

I was heartbroken. Barry left me. Joe and Caitlin walked into the cortex. "Baby you okay?" "Yeah I'm fine dad." "Where's Barry?" "He's gonna be in star city for a while." "Why? Is he okay?" "Uh Yeah. Can I stay at your house tonight. I don't want to be home alone when cicada knows where I live." "I actually have a date with Cecile." "District attorney Cecile?" "Yes district attorney cecile." "Caitlin can I stay with you?" "Yeah that's fine."

Caitlin took me home to get clothes and then went to her house. I put my stuff next to the couch and she gave me a pillow. I sat down and used Nora's blanket.

Barry:I was just so mad at myself because I couldn't save her

Me:no baby don't talk like this
Barry:but it's true. I didn't save her

Me:come home :'(
Barry:tomorrow :) I promise
Me:but I miss you
Barry:fine
Barry:I'll be there as soon as I can
Me:I'm at Caitlin's

Me:see ya in a few minutes

About 5 minutes later Barry knocked on the door. Caitlin answered. "Hey barry." "Hey cait. I'm here for iris." "Right sorry." She moved out of the way and I left with Barry.

At home

"Iris. Promise me, tomorrow we will tell the team about the baby." "Right. I forgot about my doctors appointment." "I take you before we head into star labs." "Okay."

The next day

I woke up and got ready to head out for the day. After I took a shower and got changed Barry woke up and got ready. Barry drove me to the doctors.

"Your children are healthy." The doctor said. "Children? there's more then one?" "Yes you are having twins." "Barry this is worse than I thought. If we couldn't take care of Nora how are we supposed to take care of two kids?"

At star labs

We walked in and I was terrified of how they would react. We both walked into the cortex with serious faces. "You guys okay?" "We have something to tell you." The started getting more interested into our conversation. "Barry and I are pregnant." "with twins  ." "What?" "Yeah." "How long." "Tomorrow is my 4 months." "Congrats guys!" "Dad? You okay?" "Yeah it's just a lot to take in. With Nora and now these two." Oh

I smiled and looked up at Barry then grabbed his hand. "I love you." "I Love you too."
