Today was the dreaded day that I would move to Melbourne. it's not that I had anything against Australia. I love the place but just didn't want to leave my life here in England. I belonged in England. Everything I've ever known is here. But my mom got a job in Melbourne.
My name's Emily Jones. I'm 16. So obviously leaving my friends behind would be a big deal. I have a brother who's a year younger. He'd been complaining since mom told everyone at our regular Sunday dinner with my grandparents.
They were devastated too. Of course they had my other two aunts but they were always closer with us. It was because all we've ever had was our mom. Our dad left us when we were little.
So here I was now, steps away from a whole new life. I took my seat next to my mom on the aeroplane and plugged my headphones into my iPod. I hit shuffle and lay my head back on the headrest.
Next thing I knew I was waking up to people shuffling around on the plane as my mom slightly shook me with a hint of excitement. "We're here Em! Wake up".
