Mae

When we spawned in we were on a train. Only the train was flipped over. I made my way to the middle of the cart to meet Sydney.

"This doesn't look good." She said pushing the door.

It wouldn't budge.

"Hmm," I said and started looking around. "Buses have multiple exits, trains must have them too."

"Well, it won't open itself ."She said and started skipping over the lopsided seats.

"We better hurry, something doesn't feel right."

We looked around the train. Some of the windows were broken open with sand piled in. They were too small to fit through so we had to find another exit. Red seats were thrown to the sides. And blank pieces of paper were half buried in the sand. I spotted a latch in the roof.

"Hey, Syd! over here!" I shouted.

I moved over to the roofs exit.

"Do you think it'll open?" She said pushing against it.

I pushed against it and it moved forward a hair.

"Worth a shot." She corrected herself.

I rammed at it once and it moved forward again. I gave Sydney a look and she moved across from me.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Define ready." She laughed. "I've never done this in my life and probably can't do it." She smiled again.

"You've got this, Ready?" We shifted around the door. "3...2...1!" I said and we rammed the door. It flew open so fast that we fell through it. I picked my head off the sand and shook the grains out of my hair. Sydney sat in the sand laughing. I joined her for a moment before helping her up.

"That wasn't so bad." I chuckled.

"Where are you!"Someone screamed.

I quickly pulled out my ax. Sydney stepped ahead of me.

"This way!" She said and started running down the train to the end. I followed close behind. I stopped her at the foot of the train.

"No...wait no! I didn't do anything!" He shouted again.

We moved over from behind him. He was stumbling around the sand.

We were so close at this point that his shadow sat right at our feet. He turned around suddenly. I couldn't tell who he was looking at.

"Stay the fuck away from me!" He screamed.

The sudden tone surprised us and we jumped back. He looked like he was in a daze, looking right past us.

"I don't deserve this." He said just a tad bit quieter. He took a step back before turning around and running through the sand. We ran after him.

They were after me. I couldn't tell what they were, but they were green and blue. The blurry vision made running on sand feel like jogging in the ocean. I struggled to keep my balance. I heard it behind me though and quickened my pace.

The wind started again. First as a breeze, then after a few short seconds burst into a typhoon. I ran threw in hopes I'd lose them.

"Stop running!" Something shouted from behind. "Your gonna get hurt!" It continued.

It sounded different, but different isn't always better. whether I wanted to run or not I was getting tired.

"I wouldn't stop if I were you." Something said from behind.
