The castle was in chaos when the Vin arrived. People were everywhere getting help and doctors. The Vin groaned, he was ready to give into the pain and let his soul go, but a quick look at the people around him assured him that Lamdon was not ready to be ruler-less. He tried his hardest to stay awake, to stay alive. At least long enough to appoint a competent person to come after him.

He had no children, no partner of any kind, no one to come after him. Yes there was an order to who should take over in this circumstance, but he didn't like the idea of the person who was next. He began to ponder who should come next, but no single name prevailed.

Carlton? A valiant knight who has won many tournaments and has the strength to win many more.

But he wasn't the smartest in any other field besides one on one combat, he may quickly succumb to the stress of the Vin's duties.

Simone was not the worst option, she is smart tactically, very strong in battle, and has a better chance at dealing with the immense stress she will be under, but alas she is not of any royal blood or very high class, she would have to deal with much skepticism at her abilities to fill the shoes of a royal. The people may never trust her completely.

Lastly would be Victor, he was immensely skilled in battle tactics, he had great strategies and many awards for such. However he is nearly the polar opposite of Carlton, he is terrible at one on one combat or really any form of fighting. However he is the son of a knight, there would be no opposition to him taking the throne.

The Vin ached over this decision, he was surely going to die soon as a head wound is quite fatal. It was a miracle he had survived that long let alone long enough to mull over every aspect of these options, yes, a decision must be made immediately. Before he is out of sound mind, if he isn't already.

Lisa rushed over to the main area where the throne was, she saw the Vindress intently reading what she could presume was the letter, she skidded to a stop about ten feet away from the whole scene, listening, watching, waiting.

The Vindress looked up and quickly searched around for Lisa and Candala, she looked down briefly at the letter, but looked up again looking quite feverishly for the pair. When she spotted Lisa she quickly motioned her over, pushing the letter towards her. Lisa took the piece of parchment and began to read.

Her Majesty and People of Blackgra,

It has come to the attention of the Lamdon Court that a Midian arrow was used to shoot the Vin whilst he was touring the provinces of Lamdon. Knowing that you are surely aware of the situation and how it sounds, we have decided based solely on the dire condition of his majesty that we cut quickly to the point.

We know you have Midian troops at your disposal, acting in the role the Vin we believe he would be rightfully outraged at this apparent act of treason. Because of your current position as our ally we will allow an explanation and proof of your innocence ASAP.

Having been allies for well over a decade, we in Lamdon surely aren't trying to start a war, we are sure this must be a large misunderstanding, please accept our sincerest apologies if you had nothing to do with his attack, we only wish to be as thorough as possible in these hardest of times.

Sincerely,

The Lamdon Court

Lisa did not have to feign any sort of emotion, she was floored by this letter. It stated quite clearly that the Vin was in fact, alive. She took a large breath and looked towards the Vindress, but her face was fairly hard to read. Desperately she tried to find Candala in the crowd that had formed a respectful distance from the throne, how she wished to be out there in that crowd.

Candala anxiously pushed through to the space between the people and her majesty. She had heard the news of the letter from Lamdon, she knew the fate of her life lay in the wording of that letter. How she wished it stated that the Vin was dead.

"He is alive." Her majesty stated blatantly.

Candala did her best to suppress any anger and most of her fear from entering her face at first, she knew she was most likely being read by the Vindress to see if this was an accident or if she had meant to fail.

"Impossible! He must be very close to death if he is still alive now." Candala raged suddenly, she wanted to show her anger at his life to make sure the Vindress did not get the wrong idea of her intentions. It was not difficult to do so.

The Vindress was temporarily soothed by the tone in which she sounded at this news, but anger soon flooded her again.

"You were supposed to be the best! A great hunter, you should have improvised better! This is completely unacceptable. Your punishment will very soon be decided."

At that, the crowd quickly dispersed, no one liked being around a seething royal. Power and anger do not mix well. In this situation the Vindress would take some hours to set everything in order, she would see how to salvage this and what they could do next. She would set time aside then, to think of what could be a fair punishment. She did not want to make any rash decisions.

Unfortunately the punishment was usually quite clear in this circumstance.

Death.
