chapter 2: Introduction to the case

Francine was at work with her colleagues. She was now independent without having to seek out Teni all the time especially seeing that her rude behavior to her never stops.

Everybody was knee deep in work when Tola came to their office.

"You are all asked to come to the conference room." Tola said and left.

Francine looked up from her work and asked her colleagues what they think might be the reason why they were summoned but was shocked at Favour's reply.

"Eh eh eh, JJC."she said laughing with Teni.

She was about to issue a sharp retort to them when Austin stepped in for her"That was uncalled for, all you'd to do was keep ur mouth shut or answer politely,"He said with a grimace"we don't know but we think it's about a big case."

"Thanks." Francine said and left for the conference room.

"Isn't it all because you want to get into her panties,"Teni frowned.

"And you both are jealous,"Daniel retorted which started them arguing till they got to the conference room.

Francine was already seated and was getting acquainted with the boss when they entered.

"Gud afternoon sir,"they all chorused.

"Good afternoon everyone. well,without mincing words, I called you all to inform you about a case. This case is about a lady,Linda and her ex-husband,Ikechuwkwu. They just got divorced and they're fighting for custody of their children.The husband showers them with care but isn't always around while the wife doesn't really care rather she treats them like a burden but she's a stay at home mom.We are representing the dad.Whoever has any argument ideas would be given 50 million and the case." He said with a note of finality.
"

Oh boy!50 million. This guy really wants his kids."Ayoola exclaimed.

"At all costs," the boss replied.

"This one is a bit tough o, assuming the lady was our client, I've points." Teni said scratching her head.

The boss looked around and saw that everyone one was thinking hard. He was about to say that they should all research on it when the newbie Francine shocked him by saying she had few ideas.

"And what might that be."Favour asked with contempt.

"Hmmmmm,"Francine sighed . These girls were getting on her nerves, especially when she was complimented by a staff/client. Well, she would just ignore them.

"That's enough."thundered her boss to Favour."Wats the meaning of that? Everyone has the right to speak,new or not. Francine dear, wats your idea," he asked calmly.

"Well,I feel the first point should be about his love for them......."

"The opposition would argue against that, it's a little point," Austin said politely.

"Tell her o," the girls chorused ready to pick another fight.

"Will you just shut up!!" The boss hollered."Anyone that oppose her apart from Teni would be sacked and I mean it.Teni oppose her like you're in court already. I'm just doing this cos she's a newbie. Proceed."he told Teni.

"Well sweetie,"Teni said"They would be left without care whenever he travels, so I think it would be better for them to stay with their mom."

"Well,, somebody can live with them...,...,"

"And they might be maltreated,"Teni interrupted "Having nannies, house girls etc aren't good for the children. Who is trustworthy among them? Even the good ones can't measure up to the mother's love."

"You didn't allow me to finish, I wasn't going to say one of those. I feel that maybe his mom can live with him, and she would be a great mom for one, she's not a stranger and she did a good job raising her son."

Everyone was dumbstruck. No one had any argument against that not even the boss .

"That was wow, you could only have started the way you did. That's why I do tell you all to be patient. Her last point makes sense.Well you are going to be the one to represent lke . I'LL send 25million as deposit to ur account.The case is next week Monday. Research well for it oh." He said and left.

"Girl, you are in money," Daniel said, slapping her on her shoulder.

"I just feel you should know that you aren't getting any salary this month. That's what boss does when anybody get a case like this." Austin said kindly.

"Thanks for the info. I'm very grateful."Francine said genuinely happy.

"Mtchew." The girls hissed.
The guys and Francine turned to look at the girls who were so full of jealousy after which the girls left angrily.

"Don't mind them.they would soon come around."Ayoola said.

"I'm less concerned about their behavior jare,"she replied.
