chapter 6:Fear

Genevieve was getting bored from watching TV all morning and her sister was still sleeping. Their mom has left for her shop. Tired of being bored, she decided to wake her sis.afterall,it was 12 already, she tried to convince herself.

On getting to her room, Francine was still sleeping.OMG,, she thought before covering her ears and leaving the room. She breathed slowly while counting  1...2..3 and went back in. She was still rattled by the sounds of her snoring and mouthed the word "pig" before proceeding to wake the hell out of her sister.

"Wakee wakee,"she shouted while shaking her a bit too hard.

"Oh oh oh,"Francine grumbled, annoyed at the rude awakening." Can't someone get a bit sleep in this house,"came the sleepy response while she was still turning and rolling on the bed.

"Which sleep do you want to get again," Genevieve said impatiently" it's after 12 sleepy head." Her sis is still a bad sleeper, she thought shaking her head.

"And so,"Francine said yawning and stretching." I don't know why you came home sef, I would have woken up like after 4. You idiot, my only resting day,"she said in a grumpy tone.

"Well, there is still tomorrow." She answered cheerfully.

"And I've got to wake up early for church and see my friends for girls day out."

"Am sorry," she looked down pretending to care.

"Spare me that,l know you are just pretending." She said with a smile" and I know where you will pay back, since you hate church so much. I guess you're happy to come with us."she said with a hint of laughter in her voice.

"Don't remind me," she said with a grimace." Maybe I should go early tomorrow,"

"You wouldn't dare, you must pay for waking me at such an odd hour."she said playfully..
"Well everywhere was boring......"

" Nd you missed my company." She interrupted, teasingly.

"Yeeees, your company not you though." She said ready to humor her to the finish.

"You like my company but not me."she said incredulously.

"Half bread is better than none."she teased.

"So I'm half."she said with a crazy glint in her eyes.

Genevieve fled when she saw it while Francine chased her throwing pillows at her.

As they were having Akara and Pap for their brunch, Francine thought of telling her sister of her fear of Monday's case.

"Hmm,"she cleared her throat.

"What is it?"Genevieve asked dropping her eating utensils.

"Why must you assume that I have something to tell you because I cleared my throat?"she asked clearly bewildered.

"Well, you've been wringing your hands since we've started eating letting me know you're nervous about something and now that you cleared your throat. I can now ask you that what's it about."she said looking into her sister eyes.

"Am I that easy to read?"

"Not to everyone but to people close to you.so what is it?"

She breathed in a little before saying two words that made Genevieve shiver a bit."I'm scared."

"Why?" She asked confused. Her sis was never scared. She was always bold protecting her and her friends from bullies, anything. She's always being brave, so why is she scared, she thought.

"Because..... do you know Barr. Williams."she suddenly asked.

"Nooo,am not a lawyer, remember?"

"He is one of the best lawyers and he is my opposing counsel on Monday and...."

"You are scared that he would win."she cuts in.

"Exactly."

"Then, you know your work is cut out for you. You just have to be prepared and do your best."

"Nobody has ever beaten him."she said in a whisper.

"Why don't it starts from you?"she said with a smile to which Francine smile back to.

Barr. Williams was sitting on a rolling chair in his office talking to his boss about the case. The office had many portraits of he and his football idols like Victor Moses and the likes. He still found time from his strenous work to watch a good match.

His office was very neat. He was a bit of a neat freak. He
was the only one apart from the boss who had a office.
The boss was a skinny man who can't really control him because of his success and arrogance. Williams is very arrogant but still a good guy.

"So, which attorney would I be facing."he asked with a disinterested note in his voice. He doesn't really care.

Since his 5 year practice in law,he has never lost a case even when facing the best of the best.

"Well,"the boss said, punctuating it with laughter"it's a newbie."

"OMG!!!"he exclaimed completely shocked"is the dude a dunce or wat?"

"Go ask him not me," the boss said still laughing.

"Alright then, I'm heading home."he said in a matter of fact voice.

"Good night."his boss said.

"Good night."he said grimly, lifting his suit and briefcase.
