So Bellamy had gone off with Octavia to no doubt give her a lecture on why she shouldn't have gone. I liked Ocatvia. She was pretty, funny and we got on well together. Normally, they say similar personalities clash, but we were the exception I guess. They hadn't returned with Jasper, but were going out later to retrieve him, or at the very least, retrieve his body. I'd miss him if he went - he was easy on the eye, a laugh and always seemed to lighten the mood. They were going to collect me when they went. I was currently sitting in on the outskirts of camp; Tasha had gone out with a group to scout the surrounding area. I didn't worry - she could look after herself, all be it not a well as I could.
About ten minutes had passed and I found myself staring at a small, blue insect moving its way along the moss covered log on which I was sitting. Smiling to myself, I thought how surreal it was to be sitting on Earth, breathing real air. Then, before I could have anymore poetic thoughts, the bug was crushed by no other than Murphy's boot,
'Hey freak. How you doing today? Oh wait, I don't care. I've come to make your day worse," he smirked. I knew what move he was going to pull. He thought he could scare me by beating me up; he had another thing coming. All I had to do was let him think he'd gained the upper hand before winning against him - again. I didn't dignify his words with a response, just waited for the action. And then it happened. He grabbed the collar of my jacket and slammed me up against a tree - he was stronger than he looked. The wind temporariliy left my lungs before it came flooding back, making me gasp.
"Think you could humiliate me and get away with it, huh? Stupid bitch."
"Wel, I didn't think - " Murphy cut short my reply smacking my square in the mouth, and instantly my lip split. A pain coursed through my head. Blood dripped down my lip, onto the floor. As I followed the path of the droplets with my eyes, I saw him pulling his knife from out of his pocket. Ok, one cut with that and it's time for me to strike. If only it had actually happened like that.. He grabbed my jacket, yanking it down to expose some flesh above my t-shirt neck line. He slashed quickly, causing a wide gash to flood with blood just above my sternum. Crying out in pain, I grabbed his free hand and pushed - hard. It flipped his hand back past it's normal point, and he yelped in pain. Wildly, he slashed at my arms, resulting in harsh, deep lines of blood to flow freely. Jamming my knee into his stomach, he doubled over as the air flew out of him. Seeing my advantage, I tackled him to the ground, and just as I started to rain punches on his face, I felt a pair of hands lifting me off of him. Turning to face my interference, I came face to face with Bellamy.
"What the fuck are you doing?" He questioned before he saw the cuts all over me. " Did you do this to her, Murphy? What the fuck is your problem?" He grabbed Murphy by his arm and yanked him up. He gave him one good smack across the face, splitting his cheek. "Now go a find something useful to do before she gets on to you!" Bellamy yelled.
"I could have sorted this myself you know," I said, though not ungratefully.
"You're badly hurt and covered in blood. It would have got worse. Let me look," he said, walking nearer. He grabbed my hands, counting the cuts on my arms. "6. They're deep, and might scar." Wouldn't be the first time. Next, he ripped a piece of fabric off of the bottom of my shirt, almost exposing my stomach. Instinctively, I grabbed it down as fast as I could. "Relax," he said confused. He mopped the blood dripping out of my chest. "That will definitely scar. Once the blood stops flowing, we can get a better look." I liked the way he used 'we'.
"Why do you care? I'm just another delinquent," I questioned. He thought about it for a second.
"You're valuable - you can fight, hunt, kill things. We need people like you." Although he gave a vague response, somthing deep in his eyes said otherwise. "How's your lip feeling?" He took my face gently inbetween his finger and thumb on his right hand, examining my lip.
"It's kinda sore. But I've had worse." I didn't want to think about that right now. He seemed to sense something change within me when I talked of old wounds. He used the fabric to lightly wipe the blood from my face.
"That's better. You never got a chance to tell me your story, Talia" That's the first time he used my name properly.
"Well, we don't have time now. We need to go find Jasper." As I turned to walk off, a pain shot through my abdomen. It sent me to my knees, just like the pain on the first day in my head. Gasping for breath, I got to my feet, and it had already gone.
"Are you sure you're ok? You seem - "
"I'm fine, ok?" As I went to walk off, he grabbed my wrist, just below one of my cuts.
"What happened to you?" He asked with genuine concern in his voice. Lowering my gaze in shame, I avoided eye contact.
"It can wait. When we get back, I might start to tell you the beginning." Releasing my wrist from his grip, I walked off, with Bellamy towing behind.
