"Hey! What the fuck is your problem?" I yelled angrily at the dickhead who just barged straight past me with apparently no knowledge of personal space.
"Don't get anrgy at me kid, cause trust me, I can be a full on bastard when I want to be," the rough looking bearded man answered back.
"You think threatening 13 year old kids is big? You don't scare me."
"Aren't we a brave little girl then? Let me tell you, I don't threaten, I promise." With that, he drew back his fist and -
Sitting bolt upright, I awoke with a start. I remember that day well. The punch left a huge welt on my cheek for days, but probably wasn't as sore as his half bitten off ear. The dream felt so real, but also brought back all the pain I'd experienced throughout my life. All the cuts inflicted by Murphy had more or less healed to a point where they no longer bothered me, but they itched badly. Sometimes I'd scratch them so bad they'd bleed and Clarke would get mad at me. She's only looking out for me, I know that. I lost my train of thought when a sudden snap from the woods caught my attention. I couldn't see anything - it was almost pitch black - but the senses I'd heightened over time told me that someone was out there. So, doing what any normal person would rather not do, I decided to check it out. Silent, as though my shadow moved without me, I crept past the sleeping campers, and out into the darkness. As I got nearer, I heard another crunch, and snapped my head over to the right. I made out a vague silhouette outlined against the gentle glow of the forest. Stealthily stepping round to come up to the back of the shadow, I had only seconds to plan my next move. Quick as a viper, my arms snaked out and one hand clamped down on their mouth, the other spinning them around to face me. They were a little taller than I was, and they looked down with those all too familiar eyes.
"Are you fucking insane? Jesus, that's the type of thing that gets people killed!" the mouth said as I released my grip. His eyes were a mix of relief and anger.
"Jeez, sorry. I heard a noise so came to check it out. I couldn't sleep. Besides, I'm not that easy to kill," I replied, half jokingly. Bellamy just looked at me, not sure how to react. His skin had a blue tone to it, as the insects lit up the area. He let out a small sigh.
"Well, your skills don't lack, that's clear. But I have a knife, and you're unarmed," he said with a smirk as he tried to find his blade.
"Well you DID have a knife and I WAS unarmed, but that changed when I stole it right from you without you so much as noticing." Now it was my turn to smirk. His expression gave little away, before he couldn't help but crack a smile.
"Dammit! Can I have it back?" He asked almost desperately. I just laughed as I grabbed on to the nearest brach and swung myself up into the tree. "I knew that was gonna be a stupid question. I, unlike a certain someone, don't have weirdly good night vision, so if you could just climb right back down, that would be great," Bellamy smiled sarcastically. I was high enough up to climb onto a neighbouring tree and climb down to the last few branches. Bellamy, however, was still theoretically barking up the wrong tree. I flipped down with my legs hanging over the branch, the knife between my teeth. Tapping Bellamy on the shoulder, he jumped around and his expression was priceless. I couldn't help but laugh.
"What fresh hell is happening out here?" Great. Murphy arrived to ruin the fun. I swung down from the branch and landed firmly on the ground. Wiping the knife on my jeans, I handed it back to Bellamy.
"Nothing. I was making sure the perimeter was secured and Talia came out to see what the noise was. What are you doing out of camp?" Bellamy answered.
"I heard talking. Why didn't you send the little bitch back to camp?"
"Fuck you, Murphy," I spat back. I wasn't in the mood for a fight. "I'm heading back. I'd rather not be in the presence of such a dickhead," I said to Bellamy. He nodded curtly, and stepped to the side. Murphy stood firm, so I just barged past, making sure to make contact. just as I got back to the camp, a pain shot through the back of my eyes. It wasn't as sharp as the other pains, but I felt something shift inside my mind. Shaking my head, I headed back to bed and realised how hungry I had been feeling.
