Cecilia's PoV. . .
"Bro! Hurry up! You're gonna make me late again!"
"Coming!"
I tapped my foot impatiently. This had become a routine now. For the past three days, he had been driving me to work. He wanted to make sure the stalking didn't happen again. But everyday he'd make me late! I mean, who takes an hour to shower in the morning when you have office to go to?
"Ready?", he asked, making an appearance finally.
"Since stone age", I rolled my eyes.
"Leave the sarcasm to experts, please", he replied while walking out.
I growled at him while he left the main door open.
I followed him out and carefully looked around. The coast was clear. No other vehicle in sight. The lane was unusually quieter. Maybe because they don't have to work on a public holiday. Lucky them. I sighed.
My not so sneaky brother was waiting in the car, his black shades sitting on the bridge of his nose, and an inverse cap. He ushered me in.
"You don't have to wear this hideous disguise, you know? It's embarrassing."
He snickered. "Yeah right."
"No seriously, I mean YOU look more like a stalker", I chuckled.
He fake gasped. "How dare you! I'm your elder brother, speak to me with respect."
I scoffed. "Yeah right."
The banter continued till we reached my office. Thanks to him, I could avoid the shady parking lot. I skipped out immediately, mouthed a 'see you soon', and made a dash for the front gate.
Cool air hit me when I entered our office floor. Since it was a holiday, only a handful of staff was present. Basically, just my team and the HR people. Our client had requested a meeting today, and whatever our client said, had to be implemented immediately. So here I was.
I looked around for Mel. She was bobbing her head to some music I hoped, and seemed to be working on her laptop. I creeped up to her desk and peeked over. I rolled my eyes at the sight. Of course she was watching her favourite show!
I cleared my throat and tapped her shoulder. She didn't respond. Then I felt a slight presence near me. I turned around to see, and there stood my boss. I could see he was amused. He too tapped her shoulder, while I stifled a giggle. This time too she waved us off. Starting to get impatient, he flipped down the laptop screen. That fortunately made her turn around.
"What the fork, Mel! My favourite scene was going-", she stopped after realising her mistake.
"We are not here to waste our time, Melanie. Our client is on their way right now. So get everything ready in the conference room".
"Sorry sir. On it!", she said sheepishly.
He nodded and walked away. Then turned for a moment to look at me.
"Cecilia, can I speak to you for a minute?"
I nodded a 'yes sir' and followed him to his cabin.
It's then when I noticed that we weren't alone. A middle-aged man was sitting on the side sofa. He got up to wish me and sat back down. I did the same and looked curiously at my boss.
"Cecilia, this is Mr. Van Ludwig. He's a Dutch businessman, and he needs our help."
I gave a slight nod. "What kind of help, sir?"
