A/N I don't own YJ. The song is Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons. I'm gonna try to do this in present tense, which I don't use often so I apologize if I mess up. Also, Artemis' mother wasn't arrested, nor did she receive the injury that left her paralyzed from the waist down. In other words, she's still a criminal and Jade still lives there. I look into the mirror as I smear black war paint on my cheekbones, the same way that my mother wears it. It, along with my black combat boots, look sort of out of place with my otherwise innocent looking uniform. A somewhat poofy blue dress (with shorts under it, of course) and a black Alice band. Just like Alice's on my older sister Jade's Alice in Wonderland poster.
"Artemis!" I hear my dad's rough voice yell. "Hurry up, or I'll change my mind about letting you and your sister borrow my chopper!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" I yell. "Jeez!"
"C'mon, Alice," Says my sister's annoyed voice, using the name that started out as her nickname for me, but was now my villain persona. "Or we'll be be late for a very important date!"
I smile and laugh as I run to to the living room to meet my sister. We climb through the window to the fire escape and run up the stairs to the roof of our crappy apartment building. We climb into Dad's chopper, and my sister takes charge of the controls and we fly off to our new assignment. I grin a a grin worthy of the Cheshire Cat, and I don't mean my sister when I say that.
'This should be fun,' I think, as we fly through the darkened sky towards Star City.
