The semester was drawing to a close.

Meaning that it was time to start thinking about next year.

About John transferring to New York.

"Alex, can I ask you something?" John asked one day while he and Alex were talking on the phone.

"Sure, babe."

John took a deep breath. "Do you still want me to transfer to your college next year?"

"Of course! Why would I not?"

"After everything that's happened I didn't know if you still wanted me to go to school with you."

"John, I love you with all my heart, but you're so fucking dense sometimes." Alex took a deep breath. "I love you. I love you more than anything in this life. I'll love you until the moment I die, and if there is a life after this one, I will continue to love you then. I will always want you with me. No matter what."

John's heart swelled.

What had he done to deserve this amazing human?

"I haven't talked to my parents about it yet. I'm not sure they'll approve. They might not like me being so far away from them. They think that if they leave me alone I'll do something stupid and die."

"You don't be alone. You'll be with me!" Alex laughed. "We can do something stupid and die together."

John laughed. "Do you think there's a possibility we can be roommates?"

"I'll make sure we can be roommates."

"What are you gonna do? Fight the person in charge of room placements?"

"Maybe..."

"Aleeexxxx..."

"And if they don't make us roommates I'll annoy them until they make us roommates just to make me shut up."

"You're the best boyfriend ever, Alex."

"I know."

"The only thing is I don't want to leave Hercules and Lafayette." John sighed. "They're my best friends and I don't want to just abandon them now that I'm in a relationship."

"Maybe they can come with you." Alex said thoughtfully. "You said Hercules lives in New York. Maybe he'd like to work a little closer to home. And Lafayette's always wanted to see New York City. He'll probably feel more comfortable here because there are a lot more immigrants."

John nodded in agreement, then felt stupid because Alex couldn't actually see him.

"Yes. Brilliant! Wonderful!"

"You just nodded your head, didn't you? And then felt stupid because you realized that this is a phone conversation and I can't actually see you."

"How do you know me so well?"

"Because I'm your boyfriend."

Later that day, John was talking to Hercules and Lafayette. They were discussing which classes they would be registering for the following year.

"Do you know what you are going to take, Laurens?"

John shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

"Actually, I might not be going here next year." He said. "I'm transferring to Columbia University so I can be with Alex."
