- chapter five -

Felix's POV

We all sat in a circle while eating pizza and snacks and drinking our bubble tea. Everyone was really energetic but I was quite reserved...

The moment I saw Y/N I could tell she had been crying, and the only person there while she would have been crying was Hyunjin... I didn't want to think it, but what if he made her cry? I almost shouted at him the moment I saw them so close, just because of that thought, but I stopped myself. I'll wait to talk to him after everyone has finished eating.

Soon enough, everyone was back to stretching and getting ready for the last bit of practice. The moment I saw Hyunjin was away from everyone I walked over to him.

"Can I talk to you outside?" I said quietly and he nodded, a confused look on his face. Y/N looked up and was also confused but I mouthed "Don't worry" to her and she nodded with a smile.

The moment the door closed I quickly spoke.

"Why was Y/N crying whilst we were gone? I asked you to look after her!" I said clearly a bit angry which kind of scared Hyunjin.

"I'm sorry Felix! She was crying because of text messages on her phone, not me!" He quickly defended himself. "She's told me about her school experiences and I want to help her okay? I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone about it and I mean it. I also promised I would help her escape them, and I mean that too Felix. She doesn't deserve to go through this" He said, I noticed his eyes were watery as he was talking. I quickly hugged him and he clung onto me.

"She doesn't deserve this" He muttered, sniffling and I patted his back to try and comfort him.

Once we broke our hug I looked at him and he was a lot more upset that I had thought.

"You like her don't you Hyunjin?" I asked confidently, he looked at me with wide eyes.

"How did you know?" He asked and I laughed.

"It's so obvious! Remember when one of the trainees who has left now was having a hard time? Yes you helped them, but you didn't show you cared this much. You looked after her and, if I'm honest, I've seen how you look at her. Hyunjin the only reason it is obvious to me is because I'm Y/N's best friend. I look out for her because she virtually has no one else, and now someone else is caring just as much as I do it will really help her. Stay by her side Hyunjin, okay?" I rambled and he nodded.

"Of course, I wasn't planning on leaving" He said with a smile. I jumped in excitement because he likes her, and I hope she will eventually like him too.

Both of us went back into the practice room and Y/N looked at us still concerned. I smiled to reassure her but she noticed Hyunjin's puffy eyes and stood up and hugged him. I smiled knowing Hyunjin was probably flustered.

They spoke quietly and she seemed a lot less worried once they has spoken. We got back to practice and soon enough I noticed Y/N was watching Hyunjin the entire time. Whether that's just because he's an amazing dancer or because she likes him I don't know. But surely if she was just watching the good dancers she'd also be watching Minho, right? And maybe me?

After a few dances, Y/N stood up reading something on her phone.

"It sounds random but my parents would like your numbers to contact in emergency, because they don't live here to see me. Is it okay if I give your numbers to them?" She asked sweetly, we all nodded and the thanked us.

"Y/N give us their numbers in case we need to contact them too!" Hyunjin said and everyone agreed, she nodded and sent them to us too.

Once practice was over, I decided to walk with Y/N back to her apartment. We made some popcorn and watched TV shows and eventually were just talking whilst on our phones.

When Y/N went to the restroom, I noticed Hyunjin had messaged her...

Hyunjin ❤️: How are you feeling?

I smiled because she saved his name with a little red heart and also because of how caring he is being. She needs as much support as she can get, I'm glad he is giving it to her.

When she came back, I decided to tease her...

"What's with the red heart Y/N? Do you like Hyunjin?" I said whilst raising my eyebrows at her. She giggled and smiled, and turned red whilst I was laughing too.

"I think so, maybe?" She said and I smiled.

"Well, what do you like about him?" I asked and she thought before speaking.

"Well, firstly he's really passionate about dancing and it's really nice to see how hardworking he is. That reminds me, I really want to see you all in the studio recording one day! Anyways, he has been really kind to me and also knows what you know about me now, and he said he is going to help me which means so much to me. He respects me and looks out for me just like you do, and it means so much from you both. Every little thing he does makes me smile or laugh without fail. He makes me really happy and I don't think I've felt this happy in a long time" She said smiling, I was smiling too, they both like each other!

"You definitely like him!" I said and she blushed again. I kept teasing her until I had to go back to the dorm.

"It's your birthday in a couple days! Are you excited?" She asked me randomly and I nodded.

"Definitely! Remember Jisung's is the day before!" I said and she nodded.

"I know! I've prepared presents for you both!" She said and I was surprised.

"Y/N you didn't have to!" I said and she shook her head.

"Of course I did! You're my best friend and Jisung is my friend too!"

"That reminds me, yours is coming up too right?" I asked her.

"Yes! Two and a half weeks! I'm so excited!" She said jumping up and down.

"We'll prepare something for you since you have prepared for us!" He said and she laughed and nodded.

"It'll be my first birthday where I have had friends who care for me, but also my first birthday without my parents" She said and I nodded.

"Hopefully we can make it the best birthday ever! I'll see you soon Y/N" I shouted and she laughed.

"Thank you! Bye Felix!" She said and I left.

Y/N's POV

Hyunjin's words played through my head like a record player. I smiled happily when thinking of him and his kindness.

Because it was late, I decided to go to sleep, and I fell asleep quickly.

*dream/flashback*

It was 1am on a Thursday, I was stood in the pouring rain on a bridge. Not many cars were driving past. I couldn't take it any longer. I stood on the path of the bridge and looked out at the horizon, all of the city lights, it always looks so beautiful here at any time of day.

I took a deep breath, trying to collect my thoughts. I really wanted to cry, I was just so overwhelmed by everything at school. Just as i began to cry, the voice of a middle-aged woman disturbed me.

"Excuse me miss?" She asked, giving me a heartwarming smile.

"Are you doing well? You seem upset! You're a beautiful girl... Is that a Hanlim uniform? You must have a dream! Right?" She asked and I nodded.

"Live happily and fulfil that dream, I will be here for you to talk to if you ever need it, here's my card" She gave me her business card, she is a therapist. It was a simple card with her name, number, and email on it, and the phrase 'you are never alone' written in pen at the bottom of the card. I felt too awkward to ever message her but I kept the card, putting it somewhere safe, and I thanked her.

"Please, even though it may feel like the world is against you, there is always someone who cares for you." She said lastly. I nodded and she left.

Once she left I felt strong, I felt like I had faith in myself. I could get through school, even if it was the hardest thing I go through.
