The Colonels POV
I slowly looked up from my hands and saw Damien's body shaking a little as he tried to get up.
Damien?!
I ran over and tried to help him up, watching as he looked at me with a tired, almost scared expression.
"Damien? It's ok. I know you're scared but I promise I won't hurt you." I quickly got out, helping us both stand.
He looked around at the room like it was an escape room he needed to solve at this minute.
My mind was so confused by all of this. I killed him and he... he wasn't dead. But how?!
"Damien.. how are you here? I saw you die. I felt your breath stop on my very lips. How is this possible?" I asked, setting his cane down on a random stand.
He just stared and then glanced down at the ground.
"Damien.. say something please. Please..." I asked, trying to get an answer.
I just stammered, trying to think this out..
How is he... ooooh.
"Oh, it was a joke! I get it now!" I exclaimed.
They were all playing a prank on me. A cruel one, but it was kinda clever.
"You were all pulling a prank on me as a way to.. to get out of my shell right?" I asked.
I just laughed at this. What a clever joke.
"Well then... where's everyone else? They have to be here right?" I asked, walking around.
"Mark? Abe? Come out! I know your little trick and it was very clever!" I yelled, looking around for them.
I looked around the place, looking for Mark, Abe, Benjamin, someone who was in on this whole thing.
No one showed up yet.
Maybe I should keep calling out.
"Mark! Benjamin! Abe! Anyone!?" I yelled, trying to get someone to come down here.
Anyone?
A soft sigh escaped my lips as I went back to talk to Damien, maybe he was feeling better.
Once I made my way back to the front area of the house, I found Damien. But he was different.
He was holding his cane in firm hands, a soft blue and red glow was surrounding his body, and his body was completely clean of blood.
"Damien...? What's going on?" I mumbled.
He looked up at me, his eyes darker, like black.
"D-Damien... Are you ok..?" My body was trying to curl up on itself like an animal in the corner.
He walked up to me with a stride like a cat and held me close. He felt colder than before, but somehow... It felt nicer than before.
I hugged him back and breathed in the scent of his cologne that still lingered.
"Oh my love.. I've never been better." Damien said in a soothing voice.
I nodded and just hugged him tighter.
He slowly let go of me and smiled down at me, which I gladly returned.
"Come on. Let's go home." He said, walking us out the door slowly.
I looked behind me at the house with a small frown. What about the others?
"Will Mark call later about the joke?" I asked.
He looked down at me with a worried gaze, slowly shifting it to be a smile to which he replied,
"Of course my dear."
