Chapter 16

It had been the next day, And Matt had woken me up, on the couch, by kissing me on the cheek.

"good morning" I said in a groaning voice.

"good morning! get up sunshine! I have a surprise!" He said excitingly.

I pull the blankets off from over my face and all I see is Matthew's bright eyes staring right at my face.

"close your eyes..."

"okay..?'

"open!" he whispered on my ear.

I removed my hands from my face and all I saw was a bunch of red,heart shaped balloons.

"what's all this Mr. Espinosa?" I said with a smirk.

"You'll see." He said with a wink.

He covered my eyes again and guided me to I don't know where. He whispered in my ear, "open".

I look and I see Matthew kneeling on the floor in front of me with his hands behind his back.

"Matthew. What is this?" I asked.

"Happy Birthday." He said as he removed his hands from behind his back and revealed a small rectangle-shaped box.

"Matthew you didn't need to get me any- " I said as Matthew interrupted me.

"I love you Marissa." He opened the box and reveled a sliver necklace with an "M" charm on it.

"Y-You what?" I say completely shocked about what I just heard come out of his mouth.
"I love you, Marissa. I-I needed to tell you. I couldn't hold back my feelings anymore so I thought now would be the perfect time. Actually any time is a      perfect time when I'm with you. I wanna be with you Marissa. And have movie marathons on the couch every weekend. And I wanna be able to kiss you and hug you."

I stare at him and I think my eyes start tearing up.

"I-I... Matthew."

"What?"

"I love you too."

Matthew put the necklace on me and I gave him a hug. Then, I leaned in for a kiss. The kiss was passionate. And I could tell that today was going to be--
Perfect.
