I walk through the crowded hallway, getting bumped every so often. It's funny actually, you see all these people with their soulmates or their friends and then you see me. This short, freckled, socially awkward kid, alone.

I struggle to open my locker. "You need help there?" I look to my left and see my (family) friend, Jared. "N-no" I mutter and continue to struggle. After a few seconds, he rolls his eyes and pushes me aside to open my locker. "How di-did you um know m-my locker co-" He steps aside and whispers, "I know everyone's combination."

That's a bit creepy.

He glances down at my arm, "So, how does it feel to be the first person in history to break your arm from jerking off to much or do you consider that an honor?" I feel my face start to heat up. "Tha-that's not what h-happened! I um, fell from a-a tree." I mutter that last part but he still heard it. "You fell from a tree? What are you? An acorn?" I roll my eyes and his attention turn to someone behind me.

"Hey, Murphy, love the new hair length. Very school shooter sheikh." I look behind me and see Connor Murphy making his way to his locker. He glances at Jared before rolling his eyes. Jared's smirk fades, "It was a joke."

Connor opens his locker and stares at Jared, "Yeah no I know. It was funny, I'm laughing. Can't you tell?" Anger grows and I start to feel my heart beat faster when he takes a few steps toward us. "Am I not laughing hard enough for you?" He gets in Jared's face, completely ignoring the shaking kid right beside him.

"You're such a freak." Jared scoffs and walks away.

I can barely breathe. He looks at me and his face went from, 'I'll kill you' to 'holy shit' and not the good type of 'holy shit'.

He places his hand on my shoulder, causing me to look up at him. "Holy shit, kid. Yo-"

It sounds like a piece of metal falls on the ground. That's because a piece of metal did fall.

We look to the ground to see the source of the noise.

A ring. Two rings. One is my ring. Holy shit my ring. My soulmate.

I look up to see his face and he looks like he's about to cry. He looks scared, no, terrified.

Before I could say anything, he runs off. Leaving me scared.

The bell rings and everyone runs to their classes. I stay in my spot and stare at the hand that had my ring on it. I look back to the ground and look at the rings. I pick up mine and glance at Connor's, contemplating either or not I should give it back to him. I pick them up

Normally people throw away their rings but I can't bring myself to.

I'll figure it out later.
