I stayed in place, not daring to move or I would lose the chance to seeing my Levi again. Owen tried talking to me, asking questions but I just stayed quiet. Had I gotten too attached to the pale predator? I never felt this sad even after my childhood dog died two years ago.

"Come on Bella, you're bleeding, we need to take care of you," Claire held my hand, but I just slipped it from her hold.

"I've had worse wounds than this, don't worry, I'll live," I looked at her and smiled sadly.

"He's gone, Bella. He couldn't have escaped," Claire spoke again, but I shook my head.

"When were you going to tell me you were training that dinosaur?" Owen asked trying his best not to sound rude.

"When it was open to the public. It was top secret, and only a couple of people that work in the control room and labs knew about it," I explained wiping my tears. "I think you should take the boys where everyone is, I think having a carnivore that size trying to eat them is very traumatizing," I smiled when the boys giggled at my serious joke.

"There are dinosaurs lose. A T-Rex, a Raptor, many others that we don't even know of. It's not safe," Owen placed his hands on my shoulder and looked at me in the eyes. I stepped closer and hugged him.

"There is no need to worry about me. I'll be okay, I'll just have a small walk then I'll go to you guys," I say still hugging him. After all of this, I really needed this hug.

"Promise?"

"Promise," I pulled away and smiled at him trying to hide my pain. I looked over to the boys and gave each a hug. "Be safe," I kissed Gray's head and gave Claire a small hug before walking away from them.

I didn't have a plan or idea of what I would do, where I would go. Part of me wanted to leave, forget all bad that happened here, and work somewhere else with animals. However, another part of me wanted to know the fate of the animal I raised. If he was dead, I wanted to see the blood paint the blue water red. If he was alive, I wanted to hear him whine and growl from pain and happiness.

The last one is the best.

I walked aimlessly through the destroyed buildings until I found myself in a place I've been several times in secret during my months here. The back area for the Mosasaur where I fell in the water and almost died.

Sometimes during my few days off and between visits, I would come here when no one else was. I would sit next to the water with my feet in and talk to no one in particular about anything; myself, my family, my taste in music, food, jokes, sad stories, and most of all, about Levi.

It only happened once or twice, but I would catch a glimpse of the massive body of the Mosasaur leaving the water. It was far from me, but I was still careful about it, not wanting to turn into his next meal.

Taking a deep breath, I walked through the door and down the corridor. My movements came to a halt when I heard a noise coming from the dome area where the water was. Did a loose dinosaur come in here? The door was closed, so the only way for it to come inside was by swimming. No dinosaur would go in the water knowing of the massive reptile inside it.

The noise became clear, and it was whimpers and growls of pain. It must be a poor dinosaur that fell into the water and almost became the Mosasaur's next meal. I crouched as much as I could and slowly stalked to the direction of the sounds. Poor animal, it must be very injured.

I peeked from the corner of the corridor that leads to the water dome to see something that had never crossed my mind. My heart almost jumped out of my ribcage and I almost fell to the floor when my eyes landed on the thing was the last thing I thought I was ever going to see.
