Chapter One

 Sapphire O’loughlin POV

I looked down at the muddy torn up grass I had been standing on for the last ten minutes stretching; I had no motivation to feel a torn hamstring again. I was just finishing up when I was joined by a six foot one, black haired man of pure gorgeousness; he was wearing the somewhat typical running attire for most men, a marine tee which had the sleeves ripped off, and baggy jogging bottoms which had been ripped to match. The running trainers which he was wearing were well and truly worn, they were covered in mud and were starting to rip along the sole of the shoe. I could see that his thick jet black hair was short and had gel tousled through it, so it would spike and give it that wet look. The guy looked up at me and smiled my heart just melted. He was so gorgeous; it was like something inside of me woke and purred with desire. He had those deep electric blue eyes which you could feel piercing deep within you; what also caught my attention was that they would glimmer every time the sun caught them just right. He had light stubble on his jaw line where it was clear he hadn’t shaved in a few days. I smiled back at him, thinking I should have done it sooner instead of spending eons of time thinking about his good looks.

“Hello, I gushed embarrassed, I think he may have caught on that I was caught up in his looks; this was the kind of man who knew how good he looked but would still deny if anyone commented.

“Hi,” he smirked, holding out his hand for me to shake “I’m Steve, Steve McGarrett” I shook his hand, smiling seductively. It took a while for me to release his hands, they were a work man’s hands; rough and solid. They were the type of hands you dream about running up your body teasing you with desire.

“Sapphire O’loughlin, nice to meet you,” I breathed, my heart pounding rapidly trying to rid the thoughts that entered my mind.

“So do you live round here or just visiting?” He asked. He too was also stretching out before he ran. “I’ve just moved over here from California, I’m with the Marines. Looking for a change in scenery so I requested a transfer,” I said laughing slightly to myself, it was a bit of an inside joke and when I say inside I mean it’s only me that knows; sad I know.

“California really?” he asked in disbelief. “I would have stayed if it was me personally,” he said standing up right, he pulled one arm across his body then used the other to push against the elbow. It was what everyone asked me, but California wasn’t as great as everyone made out.

“Well when you have been there all your life it can get pretty boring, and I never really did like Calli much, not enough hills and greenery. Some girls’ likes having guys call out to them and attempt to slap their ass every time they run by, but I’m not that type of person,” I pointed out solidly making sure that he understood, sure I would love to feel those hands but I didn’t want to have to smack him one afterwards.

“Fair enough, so I take it you run a lot then?” he asked now shaking out after the mundane stretching exercises. I looked at him more closely than I had anyone ever before, I watched how his muscles rippled with every movement and how they stained against his shirt whenever he lent forwards or to the side.

“Yeah at least twice a day, but I have just moved over I haven’t had the chance to run in the last couple of days. I’m meeting the Governor later so I thought it best to have a clear mind,” I muttered coming back into the real world; I tried settling my breathing by looking at the hills which set the scene for a postcard picture.

“So you haven’t got a clue where you’re going then I take it and you don’t have a map?” he asked again in disbelief but the smirk that was trying to break across let me know that he was teasing.
