When We Were Friends

Joe's pov
I sat in the cafe not knowing why I came. I just knew I need to say something to him. We were friends once. Before Dianne walked into my life we were friends . The way it ended was sad but also I found love out of it .
I knew Dianne could hate me for doing this but I needed to do this
I saw him walk in. The tall one. The one with the muscles . More of a man than I will ever be. I knew u couldn't think that because in the end Dianne loved me not him .

He gazed right at me . It's like my blood turned cold.
He began to approach me .
I sigh and drunk my coffee .
He pulled out the chair and sat on it .
"It's been a Long time Sugg " He says coldly
"Why did you come "I ask
"I wanted to know the truth ." Anthony says
"Ask me anything " I say
"Do you love her ?" Anthony says
I was slightly taken aback from her question but I knew I had to tell him
"Anthony I love Dianne more than anything in the world . She means a lot to me . She always has done and she She always will. I can promise you I love her more this anything " I say
"Letting Dianne walk away from me was one of the biggest mistakes of my life but I knew I had to let her go. I was never good to her and she deserved so much more than how I treated her . Joe, I know your a good guy and she loves you . I know she does. And I've always known you love her . You've never ever let go of her . " Anthony tells me
"Dianne is very special to a lot of people and once she was special to me to. When you came back in her life I found the Dianne I fell in love with but I knew it wasn't because of me. It was because you made her happy again " Anthony told me
"Anthony I have forgiven a lot of people for things they have done but one thing I could never forgive you for is cheating on her " I say getting up out of my seat .
"I can't make that heal Joe" He says
"Yeah I know you can't but I can by being there for her " I say
"I'm sorry we're not friends anymore,Anthony. You were a really good mate but I love Dianne and I can't lose her " I say
I finish speaking and walk away
I walk out of the cafe and back home
I walk into my apartment to see Dianne pacing around
"Where have you been ." Dianne says
"Sorry I was meeting someone " I say
"Who. I've been trying to call you but you left your phone in your office"Dianne says
"Dianne I'm not going to lie I've been to see your ex" I say
"As in my ex Anthony . Joe I told you he is not a good man and what's he doing back in London" Dianne says
"I invited him . We both needed to says some things . A lot of what I've held back for all these years " I say
"Joe why didn't you tell me you were going " Dianne asks
"Because Dianne I knew you'd stop me . We and Anthony were best friends once and I needed to tell him why I couldn't be mates with him now . I told him because I loved my girlfriend to much . Because of what you did to my girlfriend I couldn't be around him anymore and I left " I tell Dianne
She walks over and hugs me
"I honestly thought you were about to punch me " I whisper
She laughs
"Way to ruin this moment " Dianne says with a smile
