I am not a Damon stan by any means, but season 7 episode 10 of The Vampire Diaries is by far my favorite episode of the series. Though I've never really liked Ian Somerhalder, his acting in this episode was incredible, even though this episode was probably a little out of his comfort zone.
If you don't remember, this episode is the one where Damon is trapped in the hellstone and he kept thinking he was out, but really he was just forced to relive it over and over again.
He finally makes peace with Lily Salvatore, even if it's just the dream version of her.
When he finally wakes up, he thinks he's still in the hell stone and attacks everybody in the room.
