Christmas Time 1960

Barbara's POV

I walked into Nonnatus house after traveling with the Sunday School. Poor Tina. She was so warm and not feeling well. I was ready to bring her home but Tom decided to do that for me.  I smiled at him as he smiled back. I guess it was because we got along so well on the bus talking about the Sherbet Lolly's. I was acting a little bit like a little kid, but I didn't even care. Like, I can talk to Tom right, we're friends. And I knew he was Trixies ex. So I knew he was off limits.

I went into my room, Phyllis noticed something about me just having a smile on my face and I feel like Phyllis can read me like a book.

"How was the Sunday School?" She asked me

"It was alright," I replied "This poor little girl Tina had a fever of some sorts."

"And you're smiling because she had a fever."

I shook my head

"Why are you smiling?" She asked me again

"It's ridiculous don't worry about it."

"Did the kids do something that made you laugh."

I shook my head.

"I spent some time with Tom on the bus!" I said, "Talking about Sherbet lollys that I love!"

"Oh?" Phyllis looked at me sternly "And that's why you're so happy, there something going on that I don't know about?"

"What would you say if I had a small crush on him for quite a while?"

"I knew that for a while Barbara," Phyllis said, "I know how you act around boys."

"It's just a little crush though nothings going to happen." I said, "Trixie would hate me!"

But I kept thinking to myself  as I was getting ready for bed.

A little crush isn't a big deal.Nothing can happen between us, but he is kind of cute, Ugh Stop It Barbara, Stop it! Trixie is your friend you can't do that to her! You're better than this. Don't like him, don't like him. Barbara snap out of it

More thoughts were in my head about his smile and his dimples

He is cute. But his dimples are hard to resist. And his bright blue eyes, and his voice is so nice and soothing. Ugh I sound like a high school girl.
