This will take place after his conversation with Trixie, and when he finally decides to propose and the thoughts in his head

Toms POV

I'm doing it. I'm actually gonna do it. I'm proposing to Barbara today. After Trixie I never thought I would find love again. But Barbara was way different.
Barbara was way different than Trixie. She understood me, and listened to me, and was willing to go wherever I went.  Someone I could rely on. I knew I was making the right choice. She was everything I thought the perfect girl would be.

I took a random piece of grass and picked it out of the ground because Trixie told me not to use the same ring I gave her. I decided to go with grass because it represented the growth of our relationship leading to this moment. I know it wasn't much but I knew I was ready.

"Tom?" I heard a voice knowing who it was.

I put the grass behind my back. As Barbara approached me.

"What are you doing here?" She asked

"Sorry I was busy looking for something." I replied.

"Oh what?"

"My brylcreem."

Idiot

"You aren't wearing any."

I shook my head and just confessed the truth.

"Barbara..." I said as I took her hand "I want you to have this. No ones hands ever touched it but mine. And it was growing here waiting for this moment."

She knew what was Happening as I gave her the blade of grass

"Oh tom." She said

"There'll be a gold ring, a diamond if you want one for now, you beautiful girl, will you just let me love you and accept this blade of grass?"

"Yes I will." She said without hesitation

"Barbara Gilbert Will You Marry Me?"

And I kissed her quickly without caring about the rules. Just imagining that it was us
