Barbara's POV

I said yes! And it was probably the best decision of my life. I never imagined myself getting engaged until I was around 35. But I never thought my first love would be the one I spend the rest of my life with. In high school and university I never dated anyone. People compared me to Margaret. But now that I'm in the real world. I felt like someone wanted me. And Tom. He wanted to be with me. Forever.

"Hello." Phyllis came up to me as she saw happy tears running down my face.

I showed her my grass ring that I fell in love with almost more than Tom.

"What's this?"

"Grass Ring but look at the finger it's on."

"Oh!" Phyllis needed time to process "OH! Dear lass!"

Phyllis hugged me as tight as she possibly could.

"That's wonderful kid." She said "So you and Tom are engaged."

"I never thought this would happen."

"I did." She said, "I've known it longer than you, when he first asked you to the Indian meal the first thing I said was "they are going to spend their whole lives together" and now my prediction was right. A match made in heaven."

"Oh Phyllis." I cried, she was like another mother figure in my life, but she was also my best friend in the whole entire world. And she could read me like a book. And she was also my guide here. And will always be there for me.
