The arrow soared through the sky, with out a trace of its origin. As though it were a living bird in search of its prey.
The bowman dropped his gaze and listened in to hear if his prey had fallen victim to the speed of the arrow.
To his delight a sound followed. A loud thud shook the forest awake.
Like always this morning was no different he, why would it be? He had lived her for nearly twenty years.... just about the age of his only son. His son was like miracle to the hunter. His wife and himself had tried for years but to no avail. Finally luck came to their side in the form of a baby boy.
They didn't care where he came from, and loved him as their own. A baby abandoned at the doorsteps of a poor old couples house.
Wanting to start a new life, the hunter seeked refuge deep in the woods. Confident in his skills, he made a living off his hunts.
This morning however was, like all the others, supposed to be 'good game'...... at least those were his intensions.
Noticing a peculiar figure of an animal he hasn't yet had the pleasure of capturing. Leaving little room for any hesitation he sent the arrow soaring.
Knowing full well how good of a marksman he was and having confidence in his form and distance from the beast. He took aim...... and fired the arrow.
Upon his arrival, he made a shocking discovery and noted a trail of blood that reached only as far as were the 'beast' lay.
He came upon the dreaded realization that the shadow of the unknown animal, was now the collapsed body of a young man.
The young man had short black hair, and was completely bare. The Bowman knew with a good understanding of how deep in the forest he was, even if the man had ran through the forest with all his speed, that would undoubtedly take two days.
Perplexed as to why the man was in the forest in the first place, and as to how he himself could have confused the figure of a man and the figure of a beast.
Even though those were the questions nagging at the back of his head, he quickly picked the man up. Placed him on his shoulders, hurried towards his home.
This of cause was done after he thanked his lucky stars that he hadn't killed the man.
As well as after he had successfully taken out the arrow which had pierced straight through the man's right shoulder.
The bowman started to treat the man's wounds, thankfully enough the arrow had only shot the man in his right shoulder blade.
Normally that would not cause blood loss to that extent, but after further inspection he realized the other places that blood was leaking out of, with these kind of wounds the man was most likely in danger of losing his life, if treated any later.
The wounds would take a while to heal and the bowman had to call his wife and son for assistance.
His wife being as old as him, and from how exhausted he was from carrying the man such a distance, he know his wife and himself would not accomplish the feat. Instead he left the lifting to his son, Jessie.
The wounded man was carried to the guest room, leaving the bowman with a heavy heart, unsure as to what to think.
Was he a danger to them, was he a criminal?
~~~Mario's P.O.V~~~
I woke up to a sudden dizzy feeling. I couldn't remember anything from after I turned into my wolf, on a night with no moon. Or should I say, 'being forced to turn into my wolf on a night with no moon'.
I must have blacked out from the pain. My entire body shook as I tried to get up off the bed. Bed?
Where am I and how did I get here? I looked at my chest and saw the bandages, across my stomach, sides and shoulder. I felt the stitches underneath and another bolt of pain when I tried to stand.
Well I've been mummified. Not bothering to check what kind of wounds I may have received.
I was already surprised at the grey shirt, white briefs and black track pants I found myself in.
I headed out of the plain white room opening the door, eagerly in search of anything to fill my stomach, I was starving.
I immediately turned right as my nostrils caught the smell of freshly fried meat.
"Where do you think you're going?" A heavy voice questioned from behind me.
I turned around to be face to face with a shut gun and a medium built man that looked to be in his late fifties.
"I'm sorry, is this your house? I didn't mean to intrude and thank you for taking care of my wounds." I said piecing together what might have happened.
"Tell me why you were in the forest and with such wounds."
He asked in a threatening tone, still holding the gun towards me.
Seriously what is it with people lately and guns.
I nodded and and tried with my most convincing smile to get him to lower his weapon.
Not working.
So I lied and said that I was attacked by robbers and trying to find my way back home ended up lost in the forest.
He seemed to believe it and lowered the gun.
"Sorry about that, I couldn't be too sure.... the name's Freddie" he said smiling and extending his left hand for me to shake.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mario." I said grabbing it and sucking back my pain to do so.
Seeing this he let go and offered me a place at the table to join him for breakfast with his wife.
They both offered to allow me to stay until my wounds healed. But knowing that I was already short on time until the next full moon I kindly refused and just asked to stay till the night. My wounds would be good enough to move around by then, 'thanks to my wolf like healing'.
As I sat down I heard a door in the hallway I was jyet in open.
It was on the opposite side of the room I was just in.
Out came a man to be around twenty.
Shirtless and with a long checkered pajama pants on. Instantly I could tell he was the one that dressed me.
Honestly I was relieved, if it had been the old lady I would have been unable to stop laughing.
Freddie seeing me looking at the man, whom was now in the kitchen putting together his breakfast, introduced him as his son 'Jessie'.
Jessie had a slim built with curly light brown hair a bit longer than Aaron's.
It seemed even more strange as both Freddie and his wife had jet black hair like mine.
"I appreciate the staring but make it a little less obvious 'mutt'." Jessie stated with a smirk.
How did he? Was that just a guess?
Was he just being rude, or did he know 'what' I am.
Freddie and his wife just ignored his statement and continued eating. Almost as if they never heard him say anything.
Was this a normal behaviour?
Jessie came and sat down in the chair right next to mine.
It was a six seated dinning table. We were positioned on the left hand side. While Freddie was seated in the head chair to the right and his wife was seated between him and Jessie.
Jessie looked at me and winked.
I shot him a confused look.
"Oh relax I know you're a werewolf. I also know you have a secret.... well many~~"
I immediately shot a glance in the direction of Freddie and his wife. Yet again they showed no emotion towards Jessie's words. It was almost as though they really couldn't hear him.
"Oh relax Mario, they won't be able to hear us right now."
"What did you do to them?"
"Nothing really, it's just a little trick I taught myself."
I looked at him in utter disbelief.
What was he?
"What am I? Well where do I begin Mario? Oh I know let's tell a story shall we. Now pay attention I don't like to repeat myself." He started with another wink and with a slight chuckle.
